Guest guest Posted July 16, 2005 Report Share Posted July 16, 2005 The Formless Absolute Brahman when takes form come with a nama or name.Of the everso many names of the Absolute why there is special significance attached to RAAMA nama?Becoz it is considered to be the replica of OM, the sound energy of Cosmic Creator.The repetition of the nama can eleveate one to great heights in spiritual and devotional realms,purify one's soul and show the right path.We shuld not take it to be the name of Rama, the Divine child of Emperor Dasaratha as the nama has got great spiritual significance. There are various theories and stories abt the nama of Raama.One is it contains the important syllable of Narayanaya (ra) and Namasivaya (ma) which when compiled will become Rama which means both are same.There is also an interestig story.Once sage Pretchas composed a text of verses containing 100 crores verses.The denizens of the three worlds as usual wanted to hv the same for themselves alone.The stage reached such a dimension the Creator interferred and acted as arbitrator.An agreement was arrived at and by that the verses were to be divided into three portions and each will get one portion.Accordingly each got 33 crores,33 lakhs,33 thousands,333 verses leaving a balanace of one verse.It contained 32 syllbles.This too was divided as 10 to each world and the remaining two syllables could not be divided among the three worlds.Those were the syllables of Raa and Ma.So the Creator ordained that this shuld be respected and recited by all and thus the nama of Raama came into existence. The cordinal principle of spiritualism is Tatwamasi. Here the syllable Ra represents the Paramatman and Ma the jivatman and 'a' is connecting the two.Thus the chanting of Raama's nama will hv the effect of connecting Jivatman with Paramatman and make the individual soul a Universal soul by merging in the Absolute.In the great Bakthas of Sri Rama Thyagaraja is the foremost in this age.He incessantly recited Raama nama and completed one crore times in his life and got the vision of Sri Rama.He did great penance of divine music to bring down God to earth.He composed songs and sang them repeatedly inviting his chosen God Sri Rama whom he took as a child,warrior,master,friend and Para Brahman.He saw God thru music in front of him.He secured jnana and merged in Sri Ramachabdra who is absolute Jnana and Para Brahman.Thyagaraja earned the name of Thyaga Brahmam and his Kritis are still an asset to the Carnatic music lovers.Every year his aradhana day is celebrated in Tiruvayar before his samadhy by almost all the musicians of all hue.Rama mantra is nothing but Taraka Mantra. When the present day world is in absolute turmoil and humanity don't know where they are heading reciting Raama nama with devotion,love and dedication will surely bring purity of heart,stillness of mind,upliftment of one both materially and spiritually.Even in Vishnu Sahasranama Lord Siva says reciting the name of Rama will bring everything including liberation in the bhala sruthy.Let all recite the nama of Raama and cross the difficulties faced in samsara as the nama is like a boat which safely takes all to the other shore of eternity.The greatest devotee Anjaneya it is said is always present where Raama nama is recited with folded hands tears gushing from his eyes.Though the story may be mythological still many Rama Bakhthas hv the experience of the presence of Hanuman in ethereal form.May that Lord Raama be merciful to all and guide the misguided humanity in the right path by His Grace.Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram.
