The Absolute Being to redeem the world from all sins hv taken several avatars with various names or namas.Of the same Raama is the most precious one and reciting the same incessantly the mind gets purified and leads to a life of happiness and contentment.Raama nama has nothing to do with Rama the Divine child of Emperor Dasaratha as the nama has great spiritual significance.

There are various stories and theories abt the nama.It is believed that it is a combination of the two famous mantras Narayana(ra) and Namasivaya(ma) the key syllabi in those mantras. So by clubbing the same we get the Rama nama. That means both the forms of the Absolute are the same. The cordinal principle of spiritualism is Tat Thwam Asi.Here Tat is represented by Ra(Paramatman) and Asi (Jivatma) and the syllabi in bewteen the two'a' connects the two as a link thus establishing the recital of the nama Raama is in essence the connection of Jiwatma with Paramatma and the chanting of the nama helps in that way. There is a story that the sage Pretchas composed a text of 100 crores verses. As usual the denizens of the three worlds, heaven, earth and the under world fought among themselves to hv possession of the same. The situation reached a flashing point and the Creator had to intervene and acted as an arbitrator. An agreement was made among the three worlds. As per that each world will

get a portion of the verses equally. Thus each world got 33 crores,33 lakhs,33 thousands,333 verses. There remained one verse which contained 32 syllables. This too was divided 10 each leaving 2 syllbles which culd not be divided among the three equally. Those syllables are 'Ra' and 'Ma'.Then God ordained that those two syllables shuld be respected by all the three worlds with due reverence and the same was acceepted. Thus the nama Raama came into existence. In our Puranas there is no dearth for such stories but all of them teach some principles. The nama

'Raama' has similarity with that of OM the primordial sound energy. So the repetition will make te system of human beings purified if properly intonated. That shuld hv been the basic idea.If this scientific aspect is told nobody bothers but if the same is said by repeating the namas all benefits will accrue the human mind accepts and hence such stories also are there.

No doubt Raama nama is the Taraka mantra. The most celebrated among them in this age of all round catastrophe, non belief, commitment of sins etc

Thyagaraja stands tall.He had great affection of the nama that it is said he recited the same a crore of times and had the vision of God.He did penance of divine music to bring God down to earth. He composed kritis(songs) and sang them repeatedly in various ragas inviting his chosen God Sri Rama whom he took as a child, warrior, master, friend, and Para Brahmam to come down to earth. He saw God thru music in front of him.He by his penance secured jnana and merged in Sri Ramachandra who is absolute Jnana and Para Brahman. He wrote as many as 700 songs euologising his loving Deity Raama. So every year during his samadhy day an aradhana festival is conducted in Tiruvayar

(in Tamilnadu) by almost all the carnatic musicians of all hues irrespective of their experience in music flock together and sing the kritis of Thyagaraja who got the name of Thyagabrahmam. It starts with the famous 5 kirtanas and all musicians take part to create some spiritual atmosphere and aradhana is done to the samadhy of the greatest devotee of Rama..It is also believed that whereever Rama nama is being recited there comes Anjaneya hearing the beautiful name of his Lord standing with folded hands and tears gushing from his eyes.Though this may be a mythological story but many ardent Rama Bhaktas hv experienced the presence of Hanuman in ethereal form.

Such is the potency of Raama nama which has the effect of a geat mantra and the reciter will surely get peace of mind, prosperity, happiness and eventually as his bhakthy grows he may even be lucky to see the vision of Raama and will find Him as his protector always.Even in Vishnu Sahasranama in the bhala sruthy Lord Siva states Raama nama is equal to that of VS and declares Raama as the primal energy.Recite the nama always as the same is like a boat which carries the reciter from samsara shore to the etenity on the other side of the shore.Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram.

Hare Krishna.
