Seeking Refuge in Him.

From time immemorial this question has always been a thing for discussion.

Man in his quest for conquering nature when failed always believed that there is a Super Power which guides every happening in this Universe.Only thing nobody has been able to define what exactly that phenomenon is except saying that the power is Omniscient,Omnipotent and can do whatever It wants

Sages of yore in thier deep penances to find out what exactly is that phenomenon also can't give any convincing answer except that He is the Indweller of all beings and capable of doing all deeds.Of course it is difficult to explain a thing that can't be comprehensively explained nobody can expect a better answer.However even the stone age people were believing that some great power helps them when they were in difficulties and used to worship that power.Naturally it is beyond our understanding to know how all the events we see in this world are working which cannot be explained even by great scientists we hv no option but to believe the power that is superior to all exists despite the form of such a magnificient phenomenon.

Hence we hv to depend on the writings and compositions of the great seers of yore to hv some understanding of the mechanism of the working of the Cosmos.What is the mode for that.Scriptures say surrendering to that power is the greatest thing a human being can do to understand the meaning behind the working of the Cosmos.The realised souls hv never said anything abt what the power is except that what is in macrocasm is also in microcosm.In other words whatever we see in the outer world is verily available within us also as the power which we think is outside is within us also and hence the same is called all pervading Creator.We hv countless devotees who hv found that Power in some form or other guiding them by their devotion and surrender.

Realised souls say when you get the supreme knowledge then you will get merged in that Power and there won't be any differenec as 'I' of the body gives way to the 'I' of that Great Power.Since we hv not reached that point we hv to necessarily content with what we read from vedas,scriptures,puranas etc.We always say why shuld we worry abt such and such things there is a God who will take care of everything.So we get contented with that statement without having any idea abt what we mean by God.As this is a topic which can hv far reaching effect I don't want to dive deep into that and for the present let us follow what the ancestors said and believed and seek refuge in that Power to make us more enligtened.

The most propitious and consequential act that the human being can do for himself/herself is to take refuge in Him.To claim the body as his own,to consider himself as the agent of all his activities,to conceive of himself as a person of consequence in the world-all these attitudes contribute to foster the impermanent jivahood of the jivatman.They run counter to take refuge in the

Lord if we go by the sayings of our ancestors.The relationship between the individual soul and the Universal Soul(which we consider as the Supreme Power) is the same as between the wave and ocean.The wave has no water of its own.The jivatman has no body of his own.The forms of both are impermanent.,they are always in a state of flux.The activities of the waves are actually that of the ocean.The wave can never have an existence independent of the ocean.All activities of the individual souls are in reality the sport of the Great Power.They hv neither individuality nor existence independent of the Great Power.Knowing this truth and attuning one's life to this truth is the act of taking refuge in Him.

We can see that the Pandava brothers,Vidura,Draupati,Kuchela and others had taken refuge in Sri Krishna whom they considered as the Mighty Power.

The brothers of Sri Rama had taken refuge in HIM.So also Guha,Sugreeva,

Vibheeshana and others had takebn refuge in Sri Rama.All those who had taken refuge derived immediate peae of mind.Kaikeyi,Vali,Ravana,Kamsa and others of their type revolted against the Lord instead of taking refuge in Him.And there was no end to the excited troubles they had brought on themselves.The setting of Nature is ever congenial to the spiritual growth of Jivatman.This favourable situation is termed as the grace of God.Poetically stated ,the wind of the grace of God is constantly blowing.Those among the aspirants who dedicate themselves to the Lord are like the prudent sailors who avail of that wind to navigate the ship to her destination.The seamen who take advantage of the wind need not hv to toil much in the oaring of the ship.Similarly,the devotees who take refuge in God do not suffer from their wordly life.Supreme Peace and the Eternal Abode in God are verily theirs.

Radha was commissioned to fetch water for Sri Krishna with a pitcher ful of holes.Not a drop of water leaked out when she discharged that duty for the sake of the Lord.When the assembled Gopis and others extolled her greatness, she exclaimed that whatever had taken place was the glory of

Sri Krishna and that she was merely an instrument in His hands.Such shuld be the attitude an individual has to observe for seeking refuge in Him.

So we can derive that instead of banking on the theory of creation and the Creator and the way things are happening in the Universe with its stellar systems moving in perfect harmony and events taking place according to certain well defined plans of the Mighty Power {we hv to beleive and there is no choice left before us.) of which we hv no idea and can never hv one such, nothing is left in our hands except to surrender to that Great Power in whatever form one may worship. So long as we get some idea of that Cosmic Power and the nature and modalities in which the events happen in a person's or in a country's case we can't define that Great Phenomenon that guides and goads the entire Universe and hv to depend on what the great sages and realised mahatmas hv said in their experience though they too won't reveal all the secrets of Nature unless we hv evolved ourselves to a higher dimension in the spiritual path and if they say the reality it is simply impossible for us to

understand becoz of our limited understanding powers of spiritual matters.
