[Guruvayur/Guruvayoor] significance of elephant hair

The significance of wearing elephant hair (only the hair from the tail) is to keep us fear away. As far our concern the elephant is one of the divine animal since it is the "vahanam" of 'Indran". More over this the largest animal which we are seeing in our normal life. Please be remember that parents are passing the kids in between the legs of elephants to keep away their fear.

 

But during wearing the elephant hair it is not necessary that it should touch the body. But teh jewellery is designed so that every body should knows that we had weared elephant hair.

 

I think it has some phycholigal significance also....
