Guest guest
Whenever I am in Guruvayoor, the Lord blesses me with his permission to get his darshanam as soon as the Nada opens. However, there is usually a huge stampede when the door opens. Is there anyway, we could persuade the dewaswom to make it more orderly to enter the sannidanam without being / feeling violated? Being in the temple area itself is a blessing when all the devas, yakshas and gandharvas assemble to wake the lord marking the dawn of a new day. Everyone of us is eager to get a glimpse of the lord. But does it have to be with the rude jostling and pushing of the usherers? Can we do something to inclucate a system where only a certain number of people are allowed in the queue at a given time? Most importantly, we must try to enunciate a system where people with infant children, the disabled and the old must be given preference and priority over the able. Finally it has been my expereince that women are more inconsiderate than men. Where men show decency in not invading the privacy of others and protect the sanctity of distance, women do not think twice before jostling and shoving. I do understand that in a country with such a vast population and where religion is a passion one wears on the sleeve, these are part and parcel of living. But these can also be very discouraging to our younger generation who are constantly looking for reasons to wriggle out of engagements like visitng the temple, listening to a discourse or practicing the tentets of sanatana dharma in the face of sham and double standards. The question to this group is " how can we make the younger generation a part of our system " rather than curse and lament that they are not seeing / living the values? What examples can we set and how can we enrich their quality of living? Here is wishing everyone in the group a joyous Janmashtami in advance.
