Guest guest
Geeta, Pravin is right. I had forgotten about Thiruvallakkavu Ayyappa Temple even though my own ( and all other family members') ezhuthinirippu was conducted there. It was done by a senior member of the nearby Wariom; these warriers are the traditional gurus conducting the ezhuthinirippu. They will do it upon our request any day during temple pooja hours. Even if vidhyarambham had been conducted elsewhere, it a good idea to repeat the process at Thiruvallakkav. On the southern wall of the temple, there is a large stone slab on which the child writes his first Hari shree ... letters with his finger, assisted by the parent, after the guru's instructions that had been done on the thali containing rice. It is considered as a vazhuvadu and very auspicious. The temple is not exactly on the Trissoor-Tripayar Road, because one has to turn off the road after about 7 miles and follow the road that goes to Kodungalloor via Oorakam. In short, if by bus, take the Trissoor-Kodungalloor bus that goes via Oorakam and Thiruvallakkavu is about 8 miles distance from Trissoor. Oorakam Bhagavathy temple is only a mile or two farther from Thiruvallakkavu. Wish you and the family a pleasant trip.
