Guest guest
!! Sri Rama Jayam !! Dear Gopikrishnan....This story is genuine. For your reference, plz watch the movie "Vaishali" directed by Bharathan (if I am not wrong). In the movie, the king Romapada (Babu Antony) is picturized with Shantha (Parvathi). The country (Anga) being engulfed in drought, the King seeks the help of the Vaishya ladies to persuade Rishyashringa (son of sage Vaibhandaka & apsara named Urvashi), who is brought up in the absence of any woman by his very father. Story goes such that finally the vaishya ladies claim success in bringing Rishyashringa to Romapada's country. The very first step of Rishyashringa in the dry land brings rain clouds fulfilling King's desire. The happy king gifts his dear daughter Shantha (adopted from Dasharatha) to Rishyashringa. The exact reference of this adoption is mentioned by Sumantra (Ayodhya's minister) to Dasharatha in 'Balakanda' in the verse 1-9-19. Hope it helps you ! Recently I read in an essay that Santha wasborn to King Dasaratha and Kousalya. Since the kingneeded a Son to look after his dynasty, he gifted hisdaughter to his friend King Romapada. Eventually, itis Santha and her husband Sage Rishyasringa whoperformed the "Puthrakameshti Yaga" for King Dasarathawhich gave him his sons Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana & Sathrukhna. Another reference said it is Santha'sausterity & divine life which helped Kousalya tobecome the mother of Lord Rama. Can somebody point me to a proper location whichdescribes this story, pls. Many thanks in advance.Gopikrishnan Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005
