Guest guest
Sri Guruvayoorappan Saranam, Guruvayoorappan , Himself is the deciding authority . There are two types of Priests . The first is Tantri . The Senior Namboodiri belonging to the 'Chennas Illam' is the permanent Tantri of Guruvayoor temple. He is the custodian of the Deity's 'moolamantra' and is the link between Sri Guruvayoorappan and others . The 'Melsanti' (principal Poojari ) for each year is selcted like this : The Guruvayoor Dewaswom board officials prepare a list of eligible Brahmin priests based on tradition, qualification and expereince on similar assignements. The Tantri conducts interviews and short-lists the candidates. The names of all the short-listed candidates are kept in a pot in front of the Sanctum Santorium for Guruvayoorappan to decide. A devotee after offering prayers to Guruvayoorappan acts as His representative to pick one slip from the Pot to decide the 'Melsanti' for the coming year. The Deity of Sri Guruvayoorappan is highly active and is involved in all key matters concerning the temple . The 'Deva-chaithanya' is an absolute reality for Tantri and the Senior Priest. They are often instructed through mystic symptoms , but these are rarely revealed by them to others. Guruvayoorappan's humble servant. unni krishnan <unnikrishnanp_2001 wrote: hari om!
