Hare Krishna Guruvayoorappa,Pahimam,Pahimam,Pahimam. Though we are seeing flood of mails in euology of the Paramatman Sri Guruvayoorappan still it is always a pleasure to write abt HIM as the same gives great satisfaction, stillness of the turbulent mind and lifts the devotee to great heights and I am sure there can't be two opinions on this. How it happens? What is the charm that attracts the denizens towards Him?His devotees are growing everyday and making Guruvayur a really Bhooloka Vaikunta despite so many other unpalatable factors that are going on. Lord Krishna is Jaganmohana, enchanter of the world. It is not only Radha and all other Gopis who yearn for union with Him,not only Andal and Mira. All devotees men and women look upon Him as their lover. There is no prema higher than love of the Lord. And this prema is demonstrated nowhere else with such

feeling as before the deity of Guruvayur.Guruvayurappan is Balagopala,Balakrishna. The devout hear him play the flute and they go to Him as at the bidding of a lover.Even the selfish, the greedy and vainglorious who are drawn towards Him are made whole as the ones who are sick of mind and body.Bhakthy transforms them and makes them give up the pursuit of all else.Even the man who seeks power and wealth ultimately seeks nothing but His Grace. The bhakta becomes a jnani and becomes one with the Lord. Remembering what Lord Krishna told Arjuna on the battlefield ; Chaturvidhya bhajante mam janah sukrtino'rjuna Arto jijnasurartharthi jnani ca Bharatarshaba (Four types of righteous men worship Me,O Arjuna-the man in distress(arta),the man who wishes to learn(jijnasu),the man who has an

object to gain (artharthi) and the man who knows (jnani)) Of course all the above have been discussed already in detail and I don't wish to dwell on them again. Then how and why shuld one pray? This has been best answered by the late Paramacharya of Kanchi in his comments on one of Adi Sankara's Vishnu Shatpadi. We go to a physician seeking a cure for the ills of our body.To earn a livelihood we work for our employers. Thus each ones wants are fulfilled in a specific way.But we can't acquire all that we want by seeking only the aid of human agencies. We shuld first lay our troubles before God and then go to the concerned man for help.We shuld not ask God only for the blessings of this world,we shuld also pray to Him for moksha. But then we have our family and other dependents to look after. We shall be failing in our duty towards them if we

selfishly ask for our moksha. We must therefore first fulfil our duty to our family and try to overcome our troubles with the assistance of those who can help us.But here again we shuld submit our difficulties to God and pray to Him for His grace. In other words,Iswaranugraha, purushaprayatna, and adrishta all these must combine to enable us to overcome our troubles and hv our desires fulfilled.Again we may enjoy all worldly goods, but still we may not be happy. What we shuld ask in our prayer is therefore, manasanthi, peace of mind, without which sorrows will continue to disturb us.How to mitigate all these things?Without doubt one can say by worshipping the Poora Avatar Sri Guruvayurappan. This factor was realised by the Great devotees of Guruvayurappan.Meppattur describes the greatness of the Lord even in the opening stanza of his magnum opus Narayaneeyam by describing the citizens of Guruvayur are the

blessed ones for there shines before their very eyes that Supreme Brahman, which is the ultimate goal of all human endeavour, which shines thru a hundred thousand scriptures and yet remains indistinct; which is ever free;which is devoid of the limits of time and space, which is incomparable and which is the crystallised essence of Bliss and Knowledge.Though Bhattatiri praises the citizens of Guruvayur for their births in Guruvayur the same need not be taken literally and he must hv in his mood of ecstacy must hv mentioned the same as the Lord belongs to all. However great credit must be given to Meppatur's Narayaneeyam a wonderful hymn in praise of the Lord and accepted by Him and countless people hv been benefitted by reciting the same. The dscription of the Lord when Bhattatiri got the vision and described in the 100th canto will definitely melt the hearts of the devotees who get themselves immersed in the great vision that the Lord gave to Meppatur. May that Parabrahman Sri Krishna of Guruvayur guide all, goad all and bless all. Hare Krishna.Send instant messages to your online friends http://in.messenger.
