Maha Shivarathri

Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival observed on the night of the fourteenth

day of the dark half in the month of Magha, in Tamil Masi, in honour of Siva,

one of the Hindu Trinity, representing the destructive aspect in the universe.

The observance of the Vratha is believed to secure for the devotee immunity from

the effects of sin committed either wittingly or unwittingly.

It's observed on the night of the Krishna pakshaa chaturdashi day (fourteenth

moon day in its darkening phase - one day before New moon day).

26th February 2006 Sunday is Maha Shivarathri. . Chathurdashi starts from

01.24 pm till 27th February 09.48 am.
