Guest guest
!!!Om Namo Narayanaya!!! Dear friends, The following story points to the magnitude of infinity which is almost unimaginable now, but which is Lord Siva himself....infinity appears in Hindu Mythology!!!... " Hindu mythology describes the first appearance of the linga as a pillar of fire. According to the story, Brahma and Vishnu were arguing about which of them was greater, when they were astonished to see a pillar of fire filling the sky. Brahma mounted his swan and flew upwards, while Vishnu took the form of a boar and dug downwards, but neither was able to find the limits of this pillar. They came back to recount their failures, when a figure emerged from the heart of this fiery pillar. This was Shiva, who stood revealed as the greatest of all the gods. " In my childhood, I heard of this story which states, Brahma saw the " kaitha poovu " while he went up to see the upper limit and came back to Lord Siva and lied that he saw the " kaitha poovu " on the upper limit. But Lord Vishnu said the truth. Then Lord Siva cursed Brahma saying nobody will worship Brahma later on. Thats why there is no temple with Brahma as the main deity. Also, the " kaitha poovu " also got the curse that it wont be used for worshipping in temples. Cheers, ~Gopi
Guest guest
Hari-Om The Puranas mention about the curse on Brahma that no one would worship Him. Still Hindus worship Him and there are temples dedicated to Lord Brahma. Krishnanujan Jai Shree Krishna! Temples Although Brahmâ is prayed to in almost all Hindu religious rites, there are only two temples dedicated to him in India, the more prominent of which is at Pushkar, close to Jaipur. Once a year, on the full moon night of the Hindu lunar month of Kartika (October - November), a religious festival is held in Brahmâ's honour. Thousands of pilgrims come to bathe in the holy lake adjecent to the temple. There is also a famous murti of Brahmâ at Mangalwedha, 52 km from Solapur district in Maharashtra. There is one more temple for Brahma in the temple town of Kumbakonam, (Thanjavur District) Tamil Nadu. Regular pujas are held for Brahma and during Navrathris, this temple comes to life with colourful festivities. guruvayur , Gopikrishnan Viswanadhan <gokri74 wrote: > > !!!Om Namo Narayanaya!!! > > Dear friends, > > The following story points to the magnitude of > infinity which is almost unimaginable now, but which > is Lord Siva himself....infinity appears in Hindu > Mythology!!!... > > " Hindu mythology describes the first appearance of the > linga as a pillar of fire.
