Guest guest
There is sayana bhashyam on veda samhitas and also bhatta bhashyam. If you are interested in understanding what is being recited, it is a good idea to look at it. There are different types of parayanams and it would be interesting to learn the significance significance. The best is to go to a ganapadigal and ask him to explain the meaning. Lord Krishna says that veda parayanam is an austerity of speech. rsunitaa <rsunitaa wrote: Dear Members, After hearing the chanting of mahanyasam on the event of Maha Shiva Ratri, I am very curious to know the significance of the same. Guest guest
!! Sri Rama Jayam !! Dear Sunita ji, According to Saivism - " One becomes a quarter of a devotee or Siva Bhakta by wearing Rudraksha and half also by applying Bhasma and three quarters by chanting Siva Namams and full by performing Siva Pooja to the Siva Linga worn on his body. By chanting Panchakshari mantra 21,600 times daily, the person gets all boons or Sarva Siddhi. Therefore, in order to get Poorna Phalam or full benefit, one should wear Bhasma, Rudraksha, and Siva Linga and perform Sivaradhana throughout his lifetime and he is called a 'Sivayogi'. But some of the followers of Saivism first prefer getting themselves purified by undergoing through a ritual called as " Mahanyasam " and then worship the Siva Linga. This is because Sruti is emphatic in stating " Na Rudro Rudra Marchayete " , meaning none can touch the Siva Linga, which is sanctified without first himself becoming a Rudra. So Rudra's Kalas or features are involved upon himself, becomes a Rudra himself and then touches the Siva Linga and does worship. This is called purification ceremony, which is followed in every religion. However, in very straight terms, this ritual called as Mahanyasam confers on the person purity for that particular occasion only and not throughout the day and muchless throughout his lifetime. Interesting to note is that there is a very well known homam called " Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam " name derived from the eleven forms of Siva. In this Homa all the 11 Rudras are worshiped along with their 11 consorts. After the sthapana avahana (invoking the installation) etc., " Mahanyasam " is recited here too. Then Rudra Trishati is recited. This homa is performed by 11 pundits and each pundit recites Sri Rudram 11 times - i.e. total 121 times Rudrajapa. There is lot more to understand on Mahanyasam. Please take this mail as my limited knowledge on the same. Learned members are expected to share more on this. Hara Hara Mahadeva ShambhO ! Guest guest
Lord Krishna says about 'austerity' in speaking thus: Anudwekakaram vakyam satyam priyam hitam cha yat swadhyabhyasanam cheiyva vangmayam thapa uchyathe. The austerity consists of: 1. without unnecessarily excite or agitate the hearer 2.it should be truthful 3.it should be likeable and pleasing 4.it should be beneficial. Those who read the Scriptures can maintain 'austerity'in his speech. --- Rajaram Venkataramani <v_raja_ram wrote: There is sayana bhashyam on veda samhitas and also bhatta bhashyam.
