Guest guest
Hari Om! Jayasree, I read your mails and others with great interest. Glad to know that you are keenly interested in printing and distributing a few copies of navaneetham. As Sunil put it rightly, there may be some legal issues to do it in a formal way. In the magazine, there are only a few 'original' contributions and I have been fortunate to be part of that. One material that I 'borrowed' was written by my grand father (late) for the Guruvayoor Ekadashi supplement-1966 (Navakam).I am pretty sure that the copy right period of that is over. For the photogrpahs, few are originals from my own collection and few are from various sources in the internet. The article on " why do we worship " is a translation by me from a Malayalam article appeared in the Malayalam varikha last year. I haven't taken permission from Swamiji to translate it. I tried contacting the Ashram, but was not sucessful. Other articles sent by members are all collected from various internet sites and thats why we didnt put the author's names along with them. I had expressed concerns to Vinodji and others regarding this. Initially there was a talk about listing names of all contributors, whether the material is original or not. In case if you are printing (subject to final words from Sunil or others), I have the following suggestions: Please print it double sided in good quality paper, if possible in color, at least some of the pages. Even if you print it in BW inside pages with color for cover pages, please remember that the quality of printing is as important as the material itself. The idea is to have the 30 pages with the front sheet and the last sheet in good quality thick paper. This is how I envisaged it while preparing it.(dont worry, a good printer can do it nicely for you from a PDF) Also, I would consider it as our 'naivedyam' and when you distribute it, it becomes a 'prasadam'. My personal opinion is that there is no harm in printing a few copies for immediate friends and relatives who will appreciate it. What we dont want is to give it to people who may not care for it. There is a saying " arasikEShu kavitva nivEdanam SiraSi maalikha maalikha maalikha... " (hope you know the meaning) Hari Om! sasnEham, Sukumar --- jayashree menon <jayashree_66 wrote: > > > > Dear Shri Sunil Menon, > > > > OM NAMO NARAYANAYA.. > > > I did'nt think about these legal aspects involved , > if one was to print and > distribute a certain number of copies of > 'Navaneetham' .
