Dear Sreeman/Sreemathy,

I have gone through the wonderful Vishu edition magazine

navaneetham; & had a feel that I have tasted the naruvenna.

I would like to comment on few printing errors as under:

In the list of Dasaavathaaram, Page 2 the 10th one is mentioned

as Kali. I think it is not Kali but Kalki. Actually it is Khadgi, but

according to the Rigvedam 'dakaaram' has been changing to

'lakaaram'. This yugam is Kali but the avathaaram is Kalki/Khadgi.

" Malsya koorma varaahascha nrusimhascha vamanah

Raamo raamascha raamascha krishna khadgi " janaarddanah

The names of the 10 incarnations of the Lord [Dasàvathaaram],

viz- Mathsyam (fish), Koormam (tortoise), Varaaham (boar),

Narasimham (lion's face & humanbody), Vàmana (dwarf),

Parasuraaman (always keeping axe), Sriraaman (the perfect man),

Balaràman( the poweful man), Sri Krishnan (full incarnation), and

Kalki shall be remembered always. Garudda Puraanam 2.30.37

In the Mahaabhaaratham episode King Parikshith releasing Kali

after hearing the Puraanam from the Great Srisuka Brahmarshi:

In this Age of Kali, people who are endowed with sufficient

intelligence will worship the Lord, who is accompanied by His

associates, by performance of sankirthana-yajnam [congregational

chanting of the holy names of the Lord]. Srimad Bhaagavatham 11.5.32

Srimad Bhaagavatham 2.2.15-31 describes the path from the

point of view of yoga (Sathya-yuga-dharma), Srimad Bhaagavatham

7.15.54-55 from the point of view of Yajna (Thrètha-yuga-dharma),

Bhavad Geetha 8.23-27 from the point of view of Upasana

(Dvàpara-yuga-dharma) and Brihad Bhàgavathàmritha, part 2, from

the point of view of Harinàma-sankïrthana (Kali-yuga-dharma,

the process for the current age).

In Kali yugam, by singing songs in praise of Lord Krishna

one can free oneself from the great bondage. In Krithaa yugam

people have to perform sacrifices and in the Thrètha they have

to recite Manthra Japam. In the Dvàpara yugam, by serving the

Lord they can attain salvation but in Kali that is possible only by

smarana in praise of the Lord. Hence, Hari is to be contemplated

upon forever and worshiped. Garudda Puraanam 1.223.36-37

What is obtained by means of contemplation in the Kritha Yuga,

reciting Manthram in the Thrètha-yuga & worshiping in Dvàpara is

obtained in Kali-yuga by constantly remembering Lord Kèsava.

Garudda Puraanam 1.228.18

Evil influence of the Kali age, wicked statements, vile utterances of

heretics - none of these affect the mind of the person in whose mind

Lord Kèsava finds a place. Garudda Puraanam 1.230.20

If Govinda is fixed in the mind, the vile age of Kali is transformed

into Kritha. If Achyutha is not fixed in the mind even Kritha-yuga is

transformed into Kali age.Garudda Puraanam 1.230.23

In the Kali age, only three principal Puràñam are devoted to Vishñu.

Among these the Bhàgavatham renders better to the people.

Garudda Puraanam 3.1.43

The Vishñu Puràñam comes next, then comes Garudda. The 3 are

principal Puràñam in the Kali age. Garudda contains some additional

matter. Garudda Puraanam 3.1.46

In this world of mortals or in the world of extreme darkness, there

is none equal to Kali who slanders the Lord, among the devotees of

Siva who find pleasure in ignorance and aversion in knowledge. Kali

is known as Duryodhana, the endless pain incarnate.

Garudda Puraanam 3.12.82-83

Then in Kali age, the Lord was born in the Kikata [bihar] as Buddha. He

deluded the asuràs and flouted the Vèdam. Garudda Puraanam 3.15.26

Then, at the interval between Kali and Sathya age, the Lord will be born

in the house of Vishñuguptha & slay the rulers who have turned thieves.

Garudda Puraanam 3.15.27

Vàyu consumes all sorrows accruing both from virtue and vice in the

Kali-age. Hence, Vàyu is called Kali. Garudda Puraanam 3.16.58

----------

In Guruvaayoor Festival Calendar 2006 (Page 30) for 'Karkkidaka Vaavu'

the Malayaalam translation is wrongly written as 'Karthika Vaavu'

----------

Also I have seen Sri PR Ramachandra's Jnaanappaana, in which

introduction saying that Thirumaandhaamkunnu Bhagavathy is

the family goddess of the Zamorins.

A good translation and a great work to boost the Bhakthi cult.

Please be noted that said Bhagavathy is the Kuladevatha of

Valluvakkonaathiri (Aarangot Swaroopam).

Saamoothiri's Kuladevatha is Valayanaatu Bhagavathy near Kozhikkode.

Kindly pardon me if I am going wrong.

Still remain in the name of Naaraayana,

with love

Krishnan
