Guest guest
This happened in January 2004.My husband and I had planned to go to Guruvayur and from there to Trvandrum,Madurai etc.WE arrived on 19th morning in Thirissur and went to Guruvayur by taxi. We had a good darsan and went to the other temples nearby and agin went to the temple to wtness the sriveli whcih I have never seen before. It was wonderful and when I saw Guruvayurappan on the big elephant I prayed to Him that my spiritual progress through devotion and brahmayajna, that is, studying scriptures and telling it to others should continue without any obstacles and I saw the elephant shaking its head which seemed to me that Guruvayurappan Himself granting my wish.Actually I have not been to Guruvayur or other pilgrimage centres for a long time and we were able to get away omly then and I was looking forward to it very much, even copying azvar sukthis in the divyadesams to recite on my way etc' In short it was an eagerly looked forward trip. The next day morning I wanted to go for the nirmalyaseva and got up early and stepped out of the bathroom after cleaning my teeth and washing my face with towel in both hands and lo! I slipped and fell sideways bending my left leg and breaking my ankle! My husband was not looking and by hearing my shout'Guruvayurappa,' he turned and saw me on the floor. By that time the foot has swelled and somehow with sheer will I manget to get up and went to bed.You could just imagine my feelings then. After all I am human for all my philosophical background and I was terribly disappointed at not being able to complete my trip for which I have planned for a long time. But I reconciled to the situation immediately thanks to my philosophy and faith and told the Lord 'thy will be done.' But the major problem was to take me to the hospital from 2nd floor where we stayed and my husband was worried as we didi not know anyone there.I told him to leave it to Guruvayurappan.Believe it or not, the manager of the hotel,(it was hotel Srilekha, quite a small one and we went there because the taxi driver took us there.)with his friends carried me all the way down the two flights of steps on a chair and took us to the hospital and stayed there till my leg was put in plaster and again and brought me back.He even shifted us to the ac room first floor and said that if we do not haveenough money with us, because we have to pay for the treatment etc., we can return to cChennai and send the money. Can you expect this from a total stranger who knew us only the previous day? After i got over the initial disappointment I was able to laugh at the leela of the Lord. When we planned to leave the next day He has made us stay there for ten days during hich my hausband had his darsan every day though I was laid up with plastered leg! When I exclaimed to Him that I could not get His darsan inspite of being few yards away I had a blurred vision of the Lord at the window pane as though tellin me that He is always with me.Writng about it even now gives me horipulation. The next hurdle was to bring me to Chennai. Our doctor whom we tele phoned said we shoud not travel by taxi and we did not have enough money with us to fly. My husband was very much worried as to how could I climb into the train.Again I told His it is the responsibility of Guruvayurappan and He will show us some way. The same people who took us to the hospital offered to come with us in the taxi to thirissur and put me in the train. When I had to cross the platforms in my wheelchair they bodily carried me across and when the train came they again lifted me wheel chair and all so that I can simply step into the compartment Of coursearriving in Chennai we had friends who took careof us and I had to travel on a luggage trolley to come out of the station where the ambulance waited because they said they did not know which platform the train was arriving due to some last minute change. While iwas travelling along in the platform paaserssby seeing me expressed sympathy but I was thouroughly enjoying His leela! Last year however we went again on a good trip. I thanked the Lord for two things. 1. protecting me from greater calamity. The doctars said that I am fortunate in not breaking my back, the way I fell down, in which case I could have been an invalid for life. 2. Giving me a wonderful husband who took care of me from the time of fall till I recovered completely after three months. I even composed slokas on my predicament of which I give below two as a sample. This one is in Tamil. viduvEnA unnai enra virindha anbA ennaivida Yarunakku enra ninaivA madhikettu nee vizundhAl naAnenna seiven enakkoorum kurumbA GuruvAyurappa Did you make me fall out of your expanse of love as though saying " I will not let you go.
