I totally agree with sri Gopalakrishnan.Whether ahything is sin or not is known only to God and definitely not to other people. When Ayyappan did not take action for so many years who is this tanthri or ahyone else to pass judgemaent on something which , when happened, how and whether it happaened at all is known only to Ayyppan and the person concerned. Nagar,Bangalore-560095Sir, Sub: Desacration of SabarimalaI am wondering why the media, public and the Sabarimala Devaswom authorities are making such a hue and cry over an incident which is supposed to have been taken place years ago, about a woman going to Sabarimala and claiming to have touched the image of the deity. It might be true or untrue. The great Thanthris and Devaswom authorities should know that the Lord is sacred and undefileable. He is the one who purifies us and destroys our sins. How can anybody defile the Almighty? Can anyone defile the Ganga, in spite of all the refuse of whole city of Varanasi is flowing into it without any

restrictions? The rules about public visiting Sabarimala or any other sacred place have been defined from time immemorial for the good of the devotees. If the Tantri himself is observing certain rules like purity external and internal (Bahya-abhyantarah suchih) because, if he touches the deity unclean in body and mind, the harm is to him and not to the God. Similarly, if a lady of age in the productive range goes to Sabari Mala, she cannot defile the deity, nor the deity will be infatuated by her. The harm will accrue only to her, if at all there is any harm. I wish wiser counsel will prevail and the matter gets dropped without escalating any further.I am not advocating relaxation of the rules in any of the sacred places. The sanctity of the place of worship should be maintained, and lapses prevented in the interests of the ignorant devotees, no doubt, but if any lapse has already

occured for whatever reason, it should be forgotten and forgiven. If it a sin, it is for the deliberate infringer of the rule. And if it is done unknowingly, there is no sin, and one will be pardoned. There is no use of crying over split milk. It only makes confusion confounded.K.V. Gopalakrishna, Bangalore. May god bless you, Dr. Saroja Ramanujam, M.A., Ph.D, Siromani in sanskrit.

Dear All, The incident is just to create a controversy. The lady had been under darks till now and suddenly she bacame famous because of this controversy. She even went to the extent of claiming that she had touched the idol which would be the most stupid thing she could have ever said.No one can touch it except the melshanti and this is the case not only in sabarimala but anywhere in kerala where people are not allowed to touch the idol. She told that someone pushed her and she touched the idol which is impossible.she does not even know the physicaldistance between the diety and the bhaktas in Sabarimala which clearly refelcts that she is shooting in air. I would also like to make note of an event in which there was an article in Times of India by Shravani Pandit in which she had described the story of Ayyaappa. She had written irrelevant stuffs without a knowledge. She went to the extent of describing that Lord

Ayyappa did not trust woman and so ladies are not allowed there which shows her knowledge in the poor light.the date was 23/6/6 Best Regards, hemantSaroja Ramanujam <sarojram18 wrote: I totally agree with sri Gopalakrishnan.Whether ahything is sin or not is known only to God and definitely not to other people. When Ayyappan did not take action for so many years who is this tanthri or ahyone else to pass judgemaent on something which , when happened, how and whether it happaened at
