Dear Murali and others!

Radhe Krishna!

This is a wonderful lesson for all of us. Murali has opened our eyes

to see the real "Muralidharan", the Madana-gopala-murthy holding His

golden flute and floating away wonderful tunes. Hail to the Lord!

Regards

THE OLD MAN AND HIS WALLET

Once an old man was travelling by train on a

pilgrimage to Brindavan. At night, whilst he was

asleep, his wallet fell from his pocket. A

co-passenger found it the next morning and enquired as

to whom the wallet belonged. The old man said it was

his. A picture of Sri Krishna inside the wallet was

proof that the wallet really belonged to him.

The old man then began to relate the story of the

wallet. He soon had a group of eager listeners around

him. Lifting up the purse for all to see, the old man

said: This purse has a long history behind it. My

father gave it to me years ago when I was a mere

schoolboy. I kept my little pocket money in it and

also a photograph of my parents.

Years passed. I grew up and began studying at

university. Like every youth, I became conscious of my

appearance. I replaced my parents¡¯ photograph with

that of my own and I would look at it often. I had

become my own admirer.

Then came marriage. Self-admiration gave way to the

consciousness of a family. Out went my own picture and

I replaced it with that of my wife¡¯s. During the day

I would open the wallet many times and gaze at the

picture. All tiredness vanished and I would resume my

work with enthusiasm.

Then came the birth of my first child. What a joy I

experienced when I became a father! I would eagerly

rush home after work to play with my little baby.

Needless to say, my wife¡¯s picture had already made

way for the child¡¯s.

The old man paused. Wiping his tearful eyes, he looked

around and said in a sad voice: Friends, my parents

passed away long ago. My wife too died five years ago.

My son- my only son- is now married. He is too busy

with his career and his family. He has no time for me.

I now stand on the brink of death. I do not know what

awaits me in future. Everything I loved, everything I

considered my own, has left me.

A picture of Lord Krishna now occupies the place in my

wallet. I know He will never leave me. I wish now that

I had kept HIS picture with me right from the

beginning! He alone is true; all others are just

passing shadows.

SPIRITUAL COMMENTARY

Only God is our true relative, father, mother and

friend in this entire universe as this sloka says :

Tvameva Mata cha Pita Tvameva

Tvameva Bandhuscha Sakhs Tvameva

Tvameva Vidya Dravinam Tvameva

Tvameva Sarvam Mama Deva deva

Everything else and every other relationship we hold

in the material world is transitory. One cant predict

the tricks our mind plays. Even the closest of friends

can become worst enemies with time. Our own kith and

kins may become our worst foes. Our own relatives may

ditch us when we need them the most! Even a slight

misunderstanding can create a valley of gap between

true lovers! So whom can we trust in this mortal

world??

The ironic truth is we can trust no one else but ONLY

GOD!!GOD IS THE ONLY PERMANENT SOURCE OF HAPPINESS AND

LOVE!We have come from God, we are a spark of His

Glory; we are a wave of that Ocean of Bliss; and we

will get peace only when we again merge in Him.

If we place complete faith in the Lord at all times,

we will receive His Grace. Grace takes away the pain

of Karma. Only the Lord/Guru can save man completely

from Karma.

Dear Muraliji The reality is that only 'GOD" will be with us always. This is the message given in "Bhaja Govindam" by Shri Adi Sankaracharya. Also Poojya Poonthanam in his Jnganapana made everyone aware of this ultimate truth It is human nature that we get engrossed in day to day actitivies in the different stages of life, like saisavam, balyam, kaumaryam, youvanam and believe that "Ishwaropasanam" is something that we can start only after we retire and free from all responsibilities. However, we forget the fact that we do not know what is in store the very next moment. So it is correctly said Ishwaropasanam is the thing which should start very early in life which will give us benefots of both Bouthikam and Adhyatmikam If my intepretation is wrong

somewhere please correct me I think KANNAN really has some affection on us. That is why we are all together in this group exchanging our views and experience on HIM. I really salute the person behind this venture Regards Syamala Murali Ambala Kolliyil <muraliambalakolliyil wrote: THE OLD MAN AND HIS WALLETOnce an old man was travelling by train on apilgrimage to Brindavan.
