Om Namo Narayana. There are some good resources for devotees who don't read Malayalam and still wish to read Ramayanam in some form during this auspicious month: 1) The Ramayana: A Modern Translation/Ramesh Menon. New Delhi, HarperCollins, 2003, 720 pages. This is what is said about the book “"Though he takes no liberties with the story, Ramesh Menon’s Ramayana is a novelist’s lush, imaginative rendering of the epic, rather than a scholar’s translation. Yet, even if the language he uses is modern and exciting, his book remains, first and last, a work of worship, of bhakti. As he wrote and rewrote it for ten years, this was his offering to Rama." I find the style very interesting and think it is a great book for young Indians who cannot read Malayalam. And he covers stories such as Maricha’s death or Ahalya’s moksha or Ganga’s descend on earth all in good detail. This book should be available in most public libraries (I got my copy at the local public library here in South Carolina although my university library does not carry it, which was surprising). 2) Another shorter version is the 1972 book by R. K. Narayan which is based on the Tamil poet Kamban’s Ramayana. Less than 200 pages, RK writes simply and conveys the gist of the main events and about the key characters. 3) The website www.gitapress.org (see English downloads) also gives the Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas in great detail with slokas, meanings, and translation. This is only available for reading online and cannot

even be printed. One can save it to one’s computer and read it at leisure. 4) Then last but not the least there is http://valmikiramayan.net/ which gives the Ramayana in great detail including slokas and text. Sree Rama Rama Raameti Rame Raame manorame, sahasranaama tat-tulyam Rama naama

I also find Shri Sunil Menon taking a lot of efforts in bringing out the

'Navaneetham' issues on time. This group gives us all a free platform to release our spiritual concerns and yearnings and the thoughts and experiences that i read are all informative, enlightening, enriching and surely amazing.May Lord Guruvayurappan always shower his grace for the growth of this group upwards.Alas! as I cannot read malayalam I have to miss the content of whatever is written in malayalam in the 'Navaneetham'issues. But i am glad that I get to partake even a little bit of the fresh butter in english.I also hope that all our members are helping in making the complete contact list a reality.Humbly, jayashree
