sloka quoted is one of the dhyanaslokas of bhagavatgita to be cited

before parayana or study of the Gita. It is usually chanted before

upnyasa or starting a classs on Gita. the source of the slokas are

not

known but is followed by all.Ganapthyraman has given the translation

of

it.I think thatthe dhyanaslokas are a complilation fronm various

sources

because one of them is 'Vasudevasutham devam kamsachaanuramardanam

devakiparmanandam krishnam vande jagatgurum which is the first sloka

of

Krishnashtalkam, the author of which is not known.

About the bhaktha Ganpathyraman has written, I agree that often the

two terrms gfollower and bhakthas are confused. Faith alone doesnot

make

a bhaktha but who is qualified as a bhaktha and who is not is known

only to the Lord.We cannot pass judgement on the score.Whether we are

progressing in devotion and how far is also known only to Him.

Sruthi

says,'yamaivesha vrnuthe thena labhyathe' The grace of God is

obtained only

by the one whom He chooses. Our duty is to go on worshipping and

loving

Him with the attitude 'karmanyevadhikarasthe ma phaleshu kadhachana.'

Once some one sent a email to me questioning my visit to temples

other

than vaishnavite ones, askung me 'How can a prapanna and staunch

devotee of Narayana like you can do that?' I replied that I do not

know whether i am a

prapanna or even a devotee because it is known only to the Lord

Himself.

I simply do His bidding and if He puts any idea in my mind it is also

His doing. If He tells me not to do it Iwon't.because I surrender all

my

thoughts and deed to Lord Lakshminarasimha who is none other than

Krishna as far as I am concerned and who is closest and dearest to

me.my

definition of bhakthi is as follows.

Love in its ultimate state is the love of God .You do not see Him

or speak to Him but you feel that He is very close and that He can

hear

you and see you and knows your innermost thoughts. All other kinds of

love is only a semblance of that love which is Bhakthi..
