Why is enlightened living difficult? It is not difficult; it only appears to be difficult to us because we have invested our life in lies. We sacrifice truth to protect lies, instead of sacrificing lies for truth. The biggest lie is the ego and its expectations. We have invested so much on lies that we are afraid of truth. Lies are created but truth is discovered. Noise is created but silence is discovered. To discover truth one has to be calm. But our life has been a noisy – the

 

 

 

 

 

reason for being trapped in our own creation. In order to listen to the enlightened master’s words, one has to be in a state of calmness and silence. Only in silence is it possible to understand things. Unless one is without ego, one cannot enter the Kingdom of Understanding. To be ‘empty’ means, simply, to stop the addiction to lies. Ego and a noisy mind are great lies. Enlightened living is simple. Unless one is simple one cannot understand the depth of wise teachings. Listening to the teachings of enlightened masters is a great opportunity – one must be awake all the time. One has to listen to the teachings, not from the head, but from the heart and one’s being. To ‘listen with the head’ is nothing but ego. To ‘listen with the heart’ is an expression of love; to listen with one’s being is silence.

Wisdom has to pass through. One has to be like a flute so that the music passes through... After all each person is only an instrument. Is it possible to have a connection with enlightened masters? The death of the body is not the death of the soul. The soul is eternal. The soul never dies. A wise person understands that the body is like a dress and that the ‘real self’ is the soul which is eternal. Words of the enlightened masters emerge from eternal silence. Words which can be moving only when one is in silent. When one prays hard and longs for the blessings of enlightened masters, one can connect with them for they are eternal, and not limited to the realm of the physical. When one is in a state of pure love, one connects with one’s master in a mysterious way. Love which is total will create a bridge with which one can attain such a state. We look through a keyhole and see a person moving around. The keyhole

is limited and so perception is limited. Ego is like a keyhole. Love is open space. Don’t see through the keyhole, see through love. Then there will be a connection. The definition of yoga is discipline. The word discipline means ability to learn. One has to learn to love life completely, not partially. Don’t get lost in trying to understand love. Learn how to be in love. It is not a matter of what but how. How to connect with the master, how to acquire the energy of love and how to be happy are more important than understanding love. Love has to be understood in an existential way, not with the intellect.
