Guest guest
HARI AUM Below is a draft of the main body of the memorandum. Requesting all to participate to make a final one. Regards Balagopal NARAYANA NARAYANA NARAYANA Changes in the Udayasthamana Puja The news regarding the proposed changes in the number of devotees whose offering of Udayasthamana puja that will be conducted on the designated days are to be increased from the present one to ten has evoked varied reactions among the devotees of Guruvayurappan spread across different continents world over. The members of this forum which do represent a crossection of the widely spread devotees of Guruvayurappan too had deliberated the issue very intensely in this forum. The purpose of this memorandum is only to pass on the various points discussed and enable the Devaswom Board to take further actions taking into consideration the feelings of the devotees of Guruvayurappan. The highlights of the discussion are: The Administration shall not unilaterally decide to change the age old traditions followed at the temple. The common belief regarding the functioning of the temple both in terms of its rites and general matters among the devotees is that the rights of decisions are vested with the Tantri. So whenever this belief is challenged it affects the belief system of the devotees. If this is not the case then it is suggested that the demarcations are per the 'Shastra' is made clear to the devotees. The Devaswom's enthusism to facilitate the Bhaktha's offerings of Udayasthamana Puja is commendable. But firstly it would make sense for the Devaswom to find out whether the devotees are really looking for that amendment. Assuming that the devotees are really hoping a change in the number and frequency of the puja it shall be put to test with the prescribed traditions namely the vedic rites etc. and whose authorities are the Tantri and other learned men who are in the know of such puja vidhis. If the proposal gets past these two gates then the Devaswom may go to the next stage of how this can be organised. Some of the suggestions that came up in the forum are given below for your knowledge and use. Collectively the points are: 1. The Tantri's word shall be deemed as final 2. Administarion shall not interefere in matters related to the Puja vidhi. 3. The reduction of the waiting period is certainly necessary but the same shall be done without making it a money spinnner for the Devaswom. 4. The above point is supported as-the cost of the Puja remaining the same the participants shall be benefitted by way of dividing the total cost among themeselves. 5.The matter shall be widely discussed . 6.The matter should be put before those persons who are in the know how of things like Tantri and other learned persons of the State. 7.It is also suggested that public opinions be sought before taking major decisions on such sensitive matters. 8. Such changes are to be totally avoided and the temple should be run as per the rituals prescribed by Shree Adi Sankaracharya. From the above, the concerns can be reduced to three or four major types: 1. Do not make any change. 2. Change is welcome and shall be done with 100% willingness of the tantri only. 3. Changes shall be accorded after due deliberations amongst all the parties that are concerned with namely-tantri, devotees, traditions, melsanthhi and other santhis and the administartors. 4. The Devaswom has all the rights to make the changes unilaterally. The wisdom is always to go ahead with the plan after doing the due diligence, even it means consuming time, effort and money. Afterall all these rituals are evolved as per the great traditions of our country over centuries wherein the great saints and seers did allow themselves to deliberate the matters threadbare in the vedic forums of those days. Having they done so this country with its traditions survived the vagaries of time and evolving to be the next super power in the days to come. Hope we have only added value to your decision making process by this humble memorandum submitted to you on behalf of the guruvayur ________ India Answers: Share what you know.
