dear bhakthas, i am feeling very lucky to be in this group. as a house

wife with many commitments i am not able to participate fully in the

group communications. there are so many learned devotees in this group.

hence i have a simple doubt for clarification. any of the learned

devotees please help me in this. we see lord guruvayoorappan photos

with lotus in hand. in some he has a long stem of the lotus which

reaches to his right foot. and in some pictures the lotus is without a

stem. is there any significance in the stem coming upto the lord's

foot?- i will be extremely thank ful if any one can throw light in my

simple -may be silly- doubt. with lots and lots of pranams in

guruvayoorappan's feet and also his devotees feet.

ENTE PONNU GURUVAYOORAPPA

KAATHU RAKSHIKKANE

thanking for the wonderful NAVANEETHAM issues.

Vijaya Ji - Shree Guruvayoorappa Sharanam!

I also feel that I'm very fortunate to be a part of this group. It's

so nice to see your wonderful attitude of devotion to Krishna.

Please do not forget that it was actually the housewives, the wives

of the Brahmanas, who helped Krishna, Balaram and Their cowherd

friends when they were really in need. The Brahamana husbands were so

much busy in their rituals that they forgot that Krishna Himself, the

real purpose behind all those rituals, was asking something from them.

Of course, the husband Brahmanas realised this later and understood

that even though their wives were not as learned as them in the

scriptures and rituals etc. but they knew more about what is the real

goal of performing all the rituals etc. -- and that is to love

Krishna and serve Him as much as we can with that love and affection!

The details of the story you can find here -

http://krsnabook.com/ch23.html

I remembered this because of your statement saying that you are a

housewife and not able to participate much.

Now coming to your question (which is indeed a very nice one!)-- The

only thing which I can think of is that the Lotus (Aravindam)

sometimes wants to taste being near the Lotus Feet (Padaaravindam) of

Krishna and hence sometimes it extends it's stem to get that

nectarean bliss of being near Krishna's lotus feet.

The scholars in this group will be able to answer it better....

....Hanta Bhaagyam Janaanaam!!!

~Krishnadasa.

Vijayaji - Shree Guruvayurappa Sharanam!

I would like to humbly state that I do not want to bring my material

imagination into picture while discussing Krishna's topics.

So I would like to point out the Shastric basis behind my statement

of Aravindam getting attracted to Padaaravindam of Krishna will be

that in the Spiritual world each and every thing is full of Sat

(Truth), Chit(Eternality) and Ananda (Bliss) and therefore everyone

is constantly associating with Krishna (who is, in fact, the source

of all that Ananda (Aham Sarvasya Prabhavah - BG 10.8 -

http://www.asitis.com/10/8.html ) in multifarious ways and trying to

serve Krishna.

Similarly the Aravindam in the hands of Krishna is also purely

spiritual one and just like it is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam:

nadyas tada tad upadharya mukunda-gitam

avarta-laksita-manobhava-bhagna-vegah

alingana-sthagitam urmi-bhujair murarer

grhnanti pada-yugalam kamalopaharah

(SB 10.21.15)

[ " Some other gopi said: O sakhi! Why do you speak of the devls, cows

and birds? They are all animate living beings. Have you not seen the

inanimate rivers? By the whirlpools that are seen in them, it is

understood that within their hearts surges an intense desire to meet

with Syamasundara. The flow of the rivers has been stopped by this

intense emotional agitation. They have also heard the

sound of our beloved Krishna's flute. Just see! Just see! With the

arms of their waves, they have caught hold of His lotus feet and are

presenting offerings of lotus flowers. They are embracing His lotus

feet just as if they were offering their hearts to Him. " ]

Therefore the so-called inanimate 'Aravindam' is eternally attracted

to the lotus feet (Padaaravindam) of Krishna and it sometimes extends

it's stalk to be near the lotus feet of Krishna.

Apologies to the wonderful devotees here and to you Vijaya Ji if I

have said something wrong.

~Krishnadasa.
