Undoubtedly we are accepting that Sri Krishna is a poorna avatar to redeem the

mankind. The process or dynamics of the manifestation of the avatar is such a

fascinating phenomenon and there can't be two opinions.

The Divine taking a human birth and residing among people as one of them is a

supreme secret of the special manifestation of the Consciousness.

While talking to Arjuna about His own manifested state ,Lord Krishna ,describes

it as rajavidya rajaguhyam {Chap.9 verse 2} meaning it is a royal science and

royal secret..

The public road is called raja-patha.The yoga common to all religions is

called raja-yoga.Similarly Brahma-jnana which is the birth right of all is

called raja-vidya.All are entitled to it and they are wending their way to it

knowingly or unknowingly.

If so, can all get at Brahma-jnana as unfailingly as all are able to procure

food for the body? No,the impure in heart cannot hv access to it. The purity of

the mind is the criterion for it. They alone shall inherit this Divine Treasure

who are perfectly pure at heart. But those who hv not yet refined the mind, those

that are given to cavil and such defects will not be able to grasp it even. To

them it is the soverign secret. This science is a sealed book to them.

As water cleanse the body, 'Brahma jnana' cleanses the 'Jivatman' of his fallen

state and reinstates him in Brahmanhood. The knower of Brahman becomes the

Brahman. Brahma-vidya is therefore the supreme purifier.

Regarding the manifestation of man,the eternal avatar says

" prakritim svam avastabhya visrjami "

(I activate my own prakriti and send forth the beings who under the control of

Prakriti are helpless}.

The animating of Prakriti takes place on a miniature scale at all levels of our

existence. Waking up in the morning all beings writhe, wriggle, and twist their

limbs in order to animate them. We animate the field by ploughing it. The beast

is animated with a whip. In all these acts spirit is infused into matter.

At the beginning of kalpa, prakriti comes from the unmanifest to the manifest

state being animated by the Purusha. Beings then helplessly and spontaneously

came into existence even as we helplessly wake up from sleep. That is the

helplessness of the beings.

Instead, when He Himself takes the human form, He says in {chapt.4 verse 6)

" prakritim svam adhisthaya sambhavami "

(I subjugate My own Prakriti and come into being}.

These two words 'avastabhya' and 'adhisthaya' make all the difference between

man,the eternal avatar. Whereas the eternal avatar operates on its own free will

while man is helplessly entangled in the nature of his manifestations. The

personalised Consciousness in him allows itself to be dominated by nature. On

the other hand the avatar takes possession of the nature and exerts a divine

domination over it.

It is the common belief that we are subjected to the theory of Karma but the

same does not apply to the avatar. The bad work done by bad people and the good

work done by the good people are both causes for an avatar. The Lord takes a

human form for the karma done by others. So in effect the poorna avatar took the

form to relieve the mankind much of its karmic effects though the same do not

affect the avatar.

So incarnation of the Divine has to be a dual phenomenon, exhibiting both divine

and human nature. It manifests with all apparent outward limitations, using the

human form as a vehicle to carry out divine works. But it also serves one of the

objectives of the ncarnation, that is to show man how with all his limitations he

can ascend to Divinity.

An avatar appears to be a rare phenomenon,an extra ordinary manifestation.

Hence it is not surprising that the human race places such a manifestation in a

separate category and adores the same. So no wonder such an avatar ,all feel to

be nearer to the heart than the formless God,whom the people are told to

worship. So no wonder Sri Krishna captivates the minds of the people not only by

His acts and Teachings and even with Form which is always imbibed in the heart

of the devotee and worshipped, loved and praised and He too reciprocates the same

with His benign Grace and Mercy.

In fact He enjoys His creations with all defects and guide them in the right

path so that they may after experience to merge in Him. For that He shows so

many leelas in His own way which are beyond explanation and guide the ardent

devotees to come out of the Maya and try to get themeselves enjoy in perfect

Bliss state by getting them to merge in Him though the same may take time but He

sees that they never falls if they hv chosen to Know Him depending on the

dedication,love,sincerity of the Bhakthas.

For that He has His own plans and it is difficult to unfathom the leelas of

the Divine with the limited knowledge of mankind.

Hare Krishna,

agraman.

I agree.

I suggest members with personal in-differences to write each other

than including the whole Guruvayur group in the middle. Please.

Even those with pure Bhakti must have certain qualities to gain the

grace of God. This is explained very clearly in Gita.

Gita Chapter 12, Shlokas 13-20 says about the ideal devotee -

A real Bhakta should…

-not hate any living being

-cultivate friendship and compassion

-give up the feeling of " I and Mine "

-be unmoved by happiness or misery

-be forgiving

-strive for self-control

-always be content with what he/she has

-surrender his/her mind and intellect to God.

-desire nothing

-be indifferent to what befalls him/her

-free from the feeling that he/she is an independent agent

-have no feeling of elation and enmity or desire

-develop an attitude of mind which rejects good as well as bad things

-have no attachments and should accept pain and pleasure, honor and

disgrace, heat and cold equally as his/her portion

-not attached to any fixed abode

-be free from elation, anger, fear and turbulence of mind

-be steadfast in mind.

-be pure and efficient

-not indulge in idle talk

It is such a 'Bhakta' that is dear to Sri Krishna.

May we all be worthy of Gita's teachings!

Om Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya!

Sunil.
