Jai Sreekrishna Respected Mataji I assume that both Shrimad Bhagavatam and Mahabharatam got name Jaya becasue by understanding the same in the correct way one can cross the samsara samudram and also because it denotes number 18 which is unique in both epics You have mentioned 18 is the number of Krishnamanthra. It contains 18 parvas and the mahabharatha war went on for 18 days and the Bhagavatgita, the crest jewel of Mahabharatha contains 18 chapters.Bhagavtha also contains 18000 slokas and 18 is the number of Krishnamanthra.

I am not sure. The only manthra I have been initiated is Gopala manthra which runs to 19 syllables including the pranava. Perhaps KVG or some one can have the info. I will try to find out also.
