Hare Krishna, agraman.Krishnadaya <krishnadaya wrote: Jai Guruvayoorappa !!! “Bhagavata-Hamsam” Brahmasree Malliyoor Shankaran Namboodiri is a living Legend of Krishna-bhakti . He was born on 02 February 1921 as the eldest son of Parameswaran Namboodiri and Arya Antarjanam , in the Vedic brahmin family, Malliyoor .

He was sick by birth . Severe illnesses and extreme poverty made his childhood miserable . In spite of all these miseries , he grew up as a loyal Krishna-bhakta .The poor parents some how managed to provide him Vedic education . The traditional “Brahmana-upanayanam” (initiation) was performed at the age of (8) followed by “Samavartanam” before he was (14) . Malliyoor Sankaran Namboodiri

started working as a temple-Pujari . Being a scholar in Srimad Bhagavatam , he later dedicated own life to “Bhagavata katha-kathanam” ( ritual narration of Bhagavatam-stories ). His “Bhagavatam-nectar” quickly gained immense popularity among Krishna-bhaktas . Later, Malliyoor initiated “Bhagavata-SaptAham” movement in Vedic temples, which practically “Bhagavatised” Kerala . His ‘Dharma-patni’ Subhadra Antarjanam (daughter of Brahmasree Melathoor Arappanadu Bhattathiri) took

total care of the family and fully supported husband’s Bhagavata-SEVA . Bhagavata-SaptAham Bhagavatam is the essence of the Vedas ; and it is s beneficial to the whole humanity, and removes the miseries , namely, calamities due to karma or fate, obstacles due to other beings , and troubles that come from one's own nature . It is a fact that , Bhagavan Sri Krishna appears in

his/her heart, when one wishes to read or hear Bhagavathm . Sage Suka narrated Bhagavatam to king Parikshit in seven days . On the first day, it was till “varahavathara” , on second day till “ jatabharatha” episode, on the third till “amrthamathanam” , on the fourth till “krishnavathara” , on the fifth till “Rukminikalyanam” , on the sixth day it was till “uddhavasamvAdha” and the last day Bhagavatam was completed. This practice to recite Bhagavatham in the same order for seven days is

known as BhagavatasapthAham . ( Please see the attached photo) . Brahmasree Malliyoor and disciples have successfully completed several thousands of BhagavatasapthAhams feeding the nectar of Krishna-Bhakti to millions of devotees . Thousands of Krishna-devotees have benefited from His divine grace and they gratefully adore Him as a “divine representative” of Bhagavan Sri Krishna . The numerous titles bestowed on Brahmasree Malliyoor include the following : Bhagavata-Hamsam ( By Guruvayoor Bhagavata Vijanana Samiti) . Bhagavataseva-Ratnam ( “Guruvayoor temple’s Janamashtami-award .The Head of Kanchi Matha personally came to present this to Malliyoor) . The Miraculous “ Vaishnava-Ganapati ” in Malliyoor Temple . Malliyoor’s family-deity is “Beeja-Ganapati” in the very ancient stone-carved temple

. Since more than (50) years Brahamasree Malliyoor has been reciting Bhagavatam keeping a salagramam in front of temple’s Presiding deity Ganapati . It is a very rare practice to worship one’s “Ishta-Devata” in front of another Deity. However , Malliyoor did this to fulfill His obligations towards His “family-deity Ganapti” and His own “Ishta-Devata, Sri Krishna” . The

result of the above ‘atmic-sadhana’ was a miracle . Vedic Brahmanas and Vedic-Jyotishis have found in this Ganapati-Deity an extremely rare superimposition of “Krishna -Chaitanyam” . Hence this Deity has become a unique “Vaishnava-Ganapati” ( See attached Picture) . In spite of His exalted status as the greatest Vaishnava-Acharya in Kerala , Brahamasree Malliyoor is a picture of humility and compassion. The ever smiling Acharya feeds everyone who visits Him is absolutely free from materialism. In the true Vaishnava tradition , Brahmasree Malliyoor have imbibed in both of His sons (Paramseswaran Namboodiri and Divakaran Namboodiri ) “Bhagavata-dharma” ; and both of them are assisting Him in BhagavatasapthAhams . Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya!!! Attachments : 1) Malliyoor. 2) Bhagavata-SaptAham. 3) Vaishnava-Ganapati . Jai Sreekrishna Yes . Shri Malliyoor Thirumeni is undoubtedly a venerable person and a true devotee of Sri Krishna. He leads a very simple life. He is also an example to all as to how to lead a normal family life but still feel detached. According to him this is our Karmabhoomi After many years, Thirumeni came to Mumbai begining this year for conducting Saptaham at Borivli and with the Blessing of Kannan , I had the opportunity to attend the same though not all seven days, but the last five days. Though Thirumeni did not sit at the pandal the whole day due to old age, he made his presence thrice a day to bless people like us. We were also allowed to meet him personally in a room for which ofcourse we had to stand in lomg quees. But it was alll the worth as we could

touch his feet and get his Blessings. He also gave prabhashanam at the time of Sreekrishnavatharam,Kuchelavrithham etc. There used to be pin drop silence during the prabhashanam In fact, whatever money he received from that Yagna was to be utilised for building of a kodimaram in the temple and also completion of the work going on at the temple. Theareater during our vacation to native place in April/May this year, myself, husband and daughter made it a point to go to the temple. It was 10.30 AM by the time we reached and after darshan of Vaishnava Ganapati and other dieties, we went and stood in the quee to have his darshan blessings. It was almost 12.00 noon when we could get his blessings. He greets everyone with a smile. On telling him that we are from Mumbai and had the opportunity to attend the Saptaham at Borivili, he was too happy and said that

another Saptaham had already been booked in Mumbai by Vasai Sabarigiri temple authorities beginging next year. He asked us not to leave without taking the prasadam. As a matter of fact, anna dhanam is there every day. Bhagavatam classes are also conducted inside the temple for those who are interested. Another Saptaham of Bhagavatahamsam had already been booked in Mumbai by the Vasai Sabarigiri temple authorities which will be conducted Jan/Feb 2007. With Kanna's Blessings, I plan to attend the same atleast one day so that I can have darshan and blessings of Thirumeni as well Humbly Syamala GANAPATHY RAMAN <agraman62 wrote: A great presentation on Malliyoor who is undoubtededly a venerable person a great devotee of Sri Krishna and conducted lots of sapthahams. The temple of Ganapathy also is very famous where lot of devotees flock and get the blessings of both Ganapathy and Malliyoor Namboodhiri. Thanks for sharing such a great personalities life style,Krishnadaya.God Bless. Malliyoor’s family-deity is “Beeja-Ganapati” in the very ancient stone-carved temple . Since more than (50)

years Brahamasree Malliyoor has been reciting Bhagavatam keeping a salagramam in front of temple’s Presiding deity Ganapati . It is a very rare practice to worship one’s “Ishta-Devata” in front of another Deity.
