Guest guest
When karmam does become punyam? Karmam, literally meaning work, in one word is the work done by body. OR Is it so? Lets have a broder look. What is work. Is it just the work done by the body. If it is Is does the movements of the body parts make a work complete. If not what does and so on and so on. There are soo many questions that comes in to the mind when I think about this small, but broad subject. This is what the supreme teacher tried to tell to his parthan. So lets see what karmam is all about. We all know from our general knowledge in highs chool that when our brain tells us to do something, we do that. Who tells the brain to do that? It's the duty of the jeevaathma in us to persuade the brain to give orders, and it is the duty of the Paramathma to persuade the jeevathma to do so (exactly like in Gita, only there the jeevathma and the paramathma were two physical entities and here both are us or in us). Krsna said to Arjuna " whatever you do, arjuna, do unto me and you will be freed from all the bonds of work, and you will not have to worry about the result, what so ever " Why did he said that…why didn't he say just do the work when you are working and after the work just call me (in that way you can be 100% sincere to the work). Pausing the questionnaire for a while and am jumping from here to look karmam in a broader view. Our body is made up of infinite cells, and each cell is made up of a nucleus and different cell particles around it like cytoplasm, endoplasm, golgi apparatus, and many funny names like that. Now wait a minute wow, there are different members in a cell, in my body that I didn't knew about…now just pause for a minute and think about how vast our body and think about all that members that moves and does work inside us. They too are living, moving working taking energy in and giving out the results of the work, and all that done inside our body without even giving you anything noticeable. They are the ones who run your body. They are the advisory board of your body, and brain is just a hardware where they put the output to. When you take in food, each and every cell takes in the sufficient energy it needs so as to perform work or their prescribed karmam. Each cell acts like a furnace where you churn the food and gives out energy, and if you have enough visualization power, just imagine, how it'll be to look at your body from that pint of view. It'll be like looking at the WTC at night. It'll be all lit up and your body will be like a star lit sky. Now, you want to move your hand and comb your hair. You burn energy to do that and all the cells in your body work for that, all the infinite cells working synchronously for the combing of your hair. Here is the tricky part. When all your infinite or so cells worked for a purpose and you are happy for the good job you have done. Your hair looks soo neat and you look handsome/cute. This was the work you want to be done. Is this the work the jeevathma wanted? To be precise, NO. Jeevathma is always in touch with the Paramathma and it's the outer ear and eyes that don't see that supreme power, coz that's how we were created by Brahman. Or in other words Paramathma wants Jeevathma to think about him all the time so that he can guide us. Even though jeevathma and Paramathma are located in the same body, They are located far apart, not like 10 or 15 miles, but infinitely far apart. Now lets come back to the cell theory we were talking about. Remembering about KRSNA all the time: In this case whenever you do a karma and lit up all your inner lights, you are doing it unto KRSNA and it is even holier than a Lakshadweepam conducted in a temple. Because you are doing the same in the temple of the Jeevathma and Paramathma. Now just think about the austerity of what you have just read. You are not participating in a lakshadweepam, or you are not condcting a lakshadweepam. You are literally making yourself the lakshadweepam, only and only when you think about The Paramathma, Krsna, when you are doing the job. So don't waste all the deepams you lit when you do your work, as a matter of fact, for a single celled organism, what we are having is utter luxury, and when we don't use it to worship the supreme, the sweet guruvayurappan, then it can inturn become the biggest sin. So make use of of each and every light lit up inside ur body. Use it for the Neela komala shyamala varnan. Use it for the worship of the Supreme and every work shall have the holiness of a lakshadweepam. And that's a reward not easy for other organisms. In this manner you can make your karmam, a punyam.
