Dear Seemaji, Here are links to some resources on the Vishnu Sahasranamam that you may find helpful: for audio: http://www.prapatti.com/slokas/mp3.html (MSSubbulakshmi's rendering) http://devotionalsongs.com/ follow along with the written text. You will find that within a few weeks you should be able to chant nicely. That way you will also feel confident about your pronunciation. For written text with meanings and significance: http://www.ecse.rpi.edu/Homepages/shivkuma/music/vishnu-sahasranamam-meanings.htm http://www.stephen-knapp.com/thousand_names_of_the_supreme.htm http://home.comcast.net/~chinnamma/sahasra/ Our own Sunitaji has been posting explanations of the namam based on Adi Shankara's bhashya. These are awesome and it is really amazing, the depth of meaning in each name. You can just do a search for Vishnu Sahasranamam in our group archives and you should be able to pull it up. If you do a search of our archives you should also get downloadable MP3 links that you can save on your computer and listen to every day. Om Namo Narayanaya. Veena. Seema Ravindran <seemawarrier wrote: ................. I started reading Vishnu Sahasranamam from a malayalam book, so I am not very sure if my pronounciation is correct. But I chant it everyday. I recently heard someone telling that if it is chanted wrongly, then it will have adverse effect, which made me think twice. But having started chanting it, I didnt want to stop it also. I would be grateful if someone can throw light at this. Jai Sree Krishna. Seema ---

HARI AUM

The principle behind all purposeful

activities-material, emotional, intellectual, physical

and spiritual is:

'sathaya shradhayayuktha thasya aradhanameehathe

labhathe cha thathahakaman vihitanhaitan'

The two parts are 'shradha'-faith and 'aradhana'-work

with devotion.

Hence if faith is there atleast one will benefit 50%

and while doing the action part which again contains

two parts-knowledge and action with devotion- one will

stand to benefit another 25% if the devotion is in

full measure.

In effect the prescription is -to start with-JUST DO

IT

Once we realise that the result is not 100% we can go

back and set things right. At least begin. Just do it.

That is why in the truest sense none of the mantras

when chanted with faith and true devotion will not

give one troubles even if the method is not right.

'swalpamalpasya dharmasya trayathe mahato bhayat'

Regards

Balagopal
