Guest guest
Dear all, Radhe Krishna! Balagopalji's point is well taken. Coming to know what we were in the previous birth, or the millions (?) of births which preceded the present birth doesn't help in anyway. Does it help to improve the performance in this birth ? Let me assume that I was a tiger in the previous birth. I got a " Nara-janma " in this birth because I was probably a good tiger and had done sukrtham to merit the birth as a human being , Or say, I was a great Pandita Brahmana in the previous birth, but I was so proud and never thought of God, I was only trying to debate with others about Vedantic subjects--- So I was demoted to an ordinary human being. Or say, I was a dog-eater, Chandala in the last birth--- By some stroke of Sukrtham, I have landed in the Manushya Janma---Either way, any sensible person should understand that we , who have received a human body and the power of thought and discrimination, should only strive to make the best use of it and better his/her performance in this janma so as to make it the stepping stone for Salvation-- if not salvation, as a better human being in the next janma, with more devotion to the Lord, so as to acquire more spiritual knowledge, and directionally work towards the final objective, the fourth Purushartha, Mukti. Guest guest
Hare Krishna ! Guruvayurappa ! Dear all, Wonderful posts from Balagopal & KVG. In this connection, I wish to mention a small point just to reinforce the wisdom posted already. We need not try to speculate on how exactly we fell into this predicament (of samsara - of repeated birth and death), rather, we should try to get out of here - this is the best we can do. enthinu vrithaa kaalam kalayunnu vaikunthathinnu poikkolvinellaarum -Jnanapana Bhagavan has given us the Shastras and He alone has sent various acharyas to us -to instill Bhakti in our minds - for this is the age of Kali yuga - wherein Bhakti (devotional service) to Sri Guruvayurappan alone will confer all perfection. bhaktyaa samsevataam nityam bhagavad-divya-vigraham kalau naanyaagathi: pumsaam vinaa yat-pratimaa-archanam " Always serve this divine deity of the Lord with devotion. For the people of Kali yuga, there is no other way, other than glorifying this deity. " -(Sloka 128) from Sri Guvayupura Mahatmya of Narada Purana. Just as someone who has fallen into a deep well -and if somebody from above is trying to offer him a rope and pull him out - he tells - " i need to know how EXACTLY I fell into this well - whether my left foot was inside first or my right? or whether i slipped and fell or someone pushed me ..etc etc. ... after knowing all that I will catch the rope " - we know its just the height of his foolishness. he will surely drown. As Shri KVG pointed out, what is the use of knowing our past janmas - is that knowledge going to take us closer to Bhagavan? if not, its just useless labour!! Let us once again praise the good fortune of all of us to be associated with the Lord of Guruvayur, who is ever intent on serving His devotees - especially all members of this Guruvayur devotees group ! hanta bhagyam jananam ! -sriram ======== --- " K.V Gopalakrishna " <gopalakrishna.kv wrote: > Dear all, > Radhe Krishna! > > Balagopalji's point is well taken.
