Guest guest
Hare Krishna, Kerala Temple Entry for Non-Hindus Advocated THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, KERALA, INDIA, May 22, 2007: A faction within the Thantiri Samajam is supporting reforms and plans to demand entry for non-Hindus at Kerala's Guruvayur and other temples. The development comes in the wake of a purification ceremony held at the Guruvayur temple after a non-Hindu minister's family made offerings there. Rahul Easwer, the grandson of the chief thanthri of Sabarimala temple says, the next generation wants elders and Hindu community organizations like VHP and Nair Service Society to embrace change. "It will be a new chapter in the history of cultural Kerala we hope all the discussion will end up in second temple entry proclamation," Easwer said. This is the second time that the subject of entry of non-Hindus into Guruvayur temple is being debated. Last month, the state endowments minister had written a letter to the Guruvayur temple board asking it to allow singer Yesudas to enter the Krishna temple. But Yesudas backed out saying he was not interested if even one person objected to his entry. Now the thanthris and yoga kshema sabha will discuss the issue at an extended meeting in Thrissur on Sunday.(HPI note: Since the entry of a person to the Hindu temple is to participate in the worship, the situation is no different than attending a Catholic Church. The Catholic Church will not give communion to a non-Catholic at mass.) Inbox full of unwanted email? Get leading protection and 1GB storage with All New Mail.
