64th Elephant in Punnathurkkotta

!!! Om Namo Narayanaya !!!

 

Dear friends,

I am back to the forum after a long break!..Wanted to

write a few words about our recent visit to the Lord's

abode.

I had been to Guruvayur temple during the last weekend

and could see the 64th Elephant being added to the

Lord Guruvayurappan's herd on 3rd June 2007. The new

guy is 'Seshadri' and is donated by one devotee from

Bangalore. I could watch 'Seshadri' taking 'The Lord'

for the Athazha Seeveli - it was truely fascinating.

The same day I visited Punnathurkotta Anathavalam with

my son Devanarayanan(5 years); he enjoyed a lot with

seeing all those elephants in one campus living like a

family; he was trying to ask the names of those

elephants one by one and trying to remember them! .

Like the devotees of The Lord, blessed are those

elephants! I say this for the recent events where the

the elephants are treated like villains! In

Guruvayurappan's herd, all the elephants are treated

with the care they need; I felt!

At Punnathurkotta, to name the elephants we saw

included, Gajaveeran Guruvayur Padmanabhan(the big

guy! he is amazing!!!), Achyuthan, Mukundan, Gokul,

Gopikrishnan(yes!! and he was taking the Lord for the

Chuttuvilakku Kazhcha Seeveli on that day!!!),

Devadas, Lakshminarayanan(the smart little guy!!! he

is very very naughty and is in some play always!!)

alongwith the other elephants there.

During all the three days when we stayed at Guruvayur,

there was quite a big queue for the Lord's Darshan. I

felt, the Devaswom could do some more better

facilities for handling the queues there; it will

truely help the devotees - especially senior citizens

and people with kids.

The happiness one gets with the Lord's Darshan is

beyond words! " Hantha Bhagyam Jananam " .
