Guest guest
Jai Sreekrishna Dear Mr. Sunil It is very nice to note that you are keeping a good track on the presence of members of this great group. I am so blessed to be a part and parcel of this group under your leadership I am sorry due to unavoidable circumstances and pre-occupation, I could not even go through the messages for a long time. Further, myself and family were on vacation for nearly 35 days and I resumed duty just today . While checking for the messages, I saw your message and thought of giving a reply today itself. By the grace of Kannan, we could spent 5 days at the abode of my KANNAN at Gurupavanapuram. I could feel HIS presence all over there and also had couple of incidents which reaffirmed his LOVE and AFFECTION for me . I shall certainly narrate the incidents in my next posting Hope by the Grace of KANNAN, the little one and both of you are fine. May my KANNAN'S Choicest Blessings be on you and family With love Syamala Sunil Menon <menon_sunil wrote: Dear Shri. Guest guest
Dear Sunilji, Sorry for being away from this site for a long time. Actually after my mother's passing away life has undergone a huge change. There has been a huge shift in our perception of looking at things ever since she passed away and our family is still vainly trying to reconcile to the event.Acceptance of things heals the mind faster they say.well, I thought I was very strong . Everyone around me thought so too after the funeral rites. today it is exactly 5 months, that mother left us and i still can't beleive it.every passing day only cuts the heart further.somebody just pulled the carpet abruptly from beneath my feet. I still remember in 2004,march when my mother in law was to undergo a bypass surgery at kerala and i was to leave for kerala, my mother too had a heart problem and was advised bed rest. i was in a quandry , should i go or look after my mother.i was distressed to my utmost and was surfing internet for various spiritual sites just to find some peace of mind. That's when i found this site. The various devotees experiences mentioned here, renewed my faith in Guruvayurappan and I just surrendered my distressed mind to him. I went to kerala and took care of my mother in law. When i came back, my mother was much better and i learnt from her that my friend took good care of her in my absence. But today , when my mind is more distressed, I find myself in a huge vacumm. What is this strength of mind , i wonder. Death is as true as birth. My sister delivered a sweet little boy , two months after mummy's passing away. His smile delights me and saddens me that he did not get to enjoy a wonderful grandmother who was a delight to all her grandchildren and for whom she was their life.My son who scored 86 % in his ssc exams failed his class xi.Maybe he was too disturbed. So here I am , waiting and watching this bubble called life. It goes up and down and sometimes just floating here and there. Right now, it is a deserted feeling as if somone blew off the light from the shining lamp leaving darkness behind. I did not want to share my gloom with our members so far, hence stayed away but today i felt i must request all you good people,to please pray for my family, to help us restore our faith in God. Guest guest
Dear Jayashreeji, We understand. A loved one's tragic loss is very very hard to accept; irrespective of all the philosophy, religious explanations and other knowledge that we hear. From my own experience, mainly it was the passage of time that helped with real healing. It took a few years for my sisters & me to accept the truth and adjust with the new reality after we lost our mother in 2001. Even in 2005 watching a movie like 'Thanmathra' brought back the strong memories of her fight with Alzheimer's disease & memory loss. However, in the meantime you and your family needs to keep yourself busy to avoid falling into the trap of illness or depression. Change of place (travel), family & friends, getting involved with activities like Bhakthi and reading great works like Bhagavad Gita and Jnanapana can help a lot with that aspect. Remember, our parents brought us up to be strong and to be successful individuals, irrespective of they are around or not. So, we need to respect their wish and move on with our lives rather than falling a victim. You will have to do that for your Dad's well being too. He will be happy when you all are happy. I know it is tough to digest; but that is the irony and reality of all our lives. We need to accept changes how harsh it may be and still live on to complete our Dharma and Karma. I request all our Mumbai members to take an extra step and arrange a get together that might help Jayashreeji to have some more good friends. Satsung - the company of good people - can do wonders to human mind. Please arrange a satsung of Guruvayoor devotees of Mumbai/Thane/Kalyan. We all are with you at this difficult juncture and pray for your and your family's well being. Guest guest
Dear Jayasree, I am sorry to hear about your mother's demise and words fail me to comfort you but i am reproducing below my answer to a question from my webpage on questions and answers which applies to your case. You say that your son too was affected. It is your responsibility to be a tower of strength for him and make him get over it because he has his whole life before him and has to emerge strong ans firm. Death is also a sure happening in life as much as the birth. You must bear in mind that a loved one never dies but only that you cannot see them or talk to them anymore. as they are moved to a land where there is no communication of any sort.Bhagavatgita is the only source of solace to man t any juncture and I have referred to it in my reply. Question How to tell the bereaved to be detached and happy.? Answer I will try to answer the question 'I said I will try because detachment from matters of life can be understood somehow but it is difficult to explain detachment when it relates to death. First of all we must discuss what is meant by death.Death is nothing to be afraid of. Jaathasya hi dhruvo mrthyuh, says Gita. Death is sure for one who is born and it is like casting off old clothes and wearing new ones, to quote the Gita. In fact the first sign of spiritual progress is the freedom from the fear of death. If we take our whole existence from the time of creation a single life is an infinitesimal part of it. The people we live with are like the friends we make while travelling. We often become very much attached to those who travel with us for a short time but we do not pine for them when they get off at their destination. I do not say that we should say bye-bye to those who leave from this world with out any emotion. Of course the sadness will be there but armed with this philosophy you will be able to regain your balance quickly. Even our own death should not be frightening and neither it is to be accepted stoically but it should be faced with a healthy expectation and curiosity as when you die it is only the body that dies and not the real 'You' which is simply changing residence. When we shift house we do not feel sorry and similarly when we shift to a new abode of physical existence we should not worry. To go back to Gita again Krishna says 'avayakthaadheena bhoothaani vyaktha madhyaani Bhaaratha avyakthanidhanaanyeve thathra kaa paridevanaa, The beginning of beings is unmanifest, their middle state is only perceived and their end is again unmanifest. So why lament about the small portion which is only visible?. That is to say , we do not know where we came from and whither we go but we are only aware of where we are at present So why worry about it.Dhehino asmin yathaa dhehe koumaaram youvanam jaraa thathaa dhehaanthara praapthih, says Krishna. When we lose our childhood or youth and change to old age we do not grieve over it similar is the change over to another body There is one who knows us from the time of creation till our final emancipation and that person is God. So trust Him to lead us through. Now coming to the question as to how can you tell someone to be happy when the have had a bereavement, the answer is 'Don't tell them so.' But if you are armed with detachment and discrimination you will be able to comfort them to come out of it. You may ask whether a detached person will never have any feeling when someone near and dear to him dies. Sure he does but not in the way that a worldly man does. He knows the realities of life and has discrimination as to which is permanent and which is not. His sadness is due to parting as he knows it is not a loss of life but a continuation. So not only he regains his mental equipoise quickly but also becomes the pillar of strength to those around. saroja Ramanujam Dr. Saroja Ramanujam, M.A., Ph.D, Siromani in sanskrit. web address: http://www.geocities.com/sarojram18 http://freewebs.com/gitaclass Choose the right car based on your needs. Guest guest
Jai Sreekrishna Dear Jayashreeji I know no words can console you. But this is life and ultimate truth is we all will have to go back from where we came from. We all know that, but still we find difficult to adjust to this truth. I had also passed through the same phase in my life. You will not believe that I lost my mother in law in 2004 on the very day we were to put the foundation stone for our house at Kerala. She was the one who wanted us to construct a house soon and wanted to spend some days with us. But man proposes and God disposes. After that I thought atleast my parents will be there with us. However, I lost them also in a span of 6 months in 2005. That was the time when I was begining to think whether God really exists. I used to cry before my Kannan literally every day. I got lots of relief after shedding tears at HIS Padaravindam and telling my parivedanam before HIM. I always asked why this tragedy only for me. After that I used to sit alone just looking at my Kannan's face. I felt HE was telling me "this is not tragedy. Your parents lived their life, completed all their responsibilities and passed away happily seeing that their childern are well settled . Imagine those children who loose their parents very early in life leaving them all alone. See those people who are bed ridden and need help of someone to take care of even the basic necessaties of life. They must be just wanting to die without being a burden for others, but it never comes. So your parents are lucky and you must be happy about that" Ofcourse it took lots of time for me to believe that neither my mother in law nor my parents are with me. But I always have the feeling that their Blessings are always with me and that is why we could complete the construction of the house without any hitch Sorry if I bored you with my story. I only want to request you not to feel helpless and have full faith in God. The only answer to several questions is "GOD" and "GOD" only Time will definitely heal the wounds . Please alo give due attention to the studies of your son Humbly Syamala jayashree_662001 <jayashree_66 wrote: Dear Sunilji,Sorry for being away from this site for a long time.
