Guest guest
What Dr. Harikrishna has suggested in the subject as 'Temple an allegory' set me thinking and I present my thoughts that occurred to me to the best of my knowledge. Temple is the sarira inside which is situated the sanctum sanctoram of the Lord who is the innerself. To reach him you have to discard sense of possessions signified by leaving your footwear helmet etc outside and enter in and by breaking coconut we demolish our ego and offer fruits of our actions offering them to the Lord. The pushkarini signifies the viraja nadhi of vaikunta where by dipping into you are transformed into a different being with no other thought than that of the Lord. by burning the camphor we burn our vasanas and what is left is the quest of the truth which is indicated by the circumambulation of the prakaras. Finally you are in front of the Lord and if you have done it all with real devotion you do not think of anything else., do not pray for this and that but get totally lost in the darsan, which is tantamount to brahmasaakshaathkara.T hat one moment you are face to face with the supreme reality but unfortunately when we come out and wear our slippers we gather all or vasanas left behind and go home back to get immersed in the samsara! After reading it, I was thinking about it for some time. Then I remember a discourse I heard during my youger age. I like to share it here with all group members. " While learning swimming in village pond / tank, the normal practice is like this: There will be always trees near ponds. A rope will be hunging from the tree which will be very nearly touching the top of the water in the pond / tank. During the initial stages of learnng swimming, the teacher / instructor will hold the learner. After few days, he will ask the student to hold the rope and will ask hime to move his legs and hand. He will tell the student to leave the rope slowly in due course, so that he can start swimming. But, as far as as you are holding the rope, you can't learn swimming. The rope is only a support. But it will not teach you swimming. If one wants to learn swimming, he should leave the rope. Similarly, by looking at the car " Ther " one will not get any salvation. One shoudl know the real meaning and then should accordingly move ahead, as Balagopalji explained about the Poori " Car " . Dr. Hari Krishna Om Santhi Om Santhi Om Santhi Did you know?
