Hi Sandhya, As per the Text books on electional Astrology(Muhurtha's), marriage is prohibited whilst Transit Sun is in sign Cancer (Karkitaka masa).Even this has got exceptions . I have not come across any Text book or parachment , that prohibits one from taking to a livelihood (employment , in modern sense) in Karataka Masa.
