Guest guest
Om Namo Narayana I am very happy and fortunate to be part of this group and get a copy of Navneetham - Ramayana Masam special. Navaneetham is rich with slokas and namams. I have a suggestion. Could we have an audio version of the same, recited by members of the group. This would be a real help to people like me who would like to know the proper pronounciation of the slokas. A few months back I had asked the advice of the group on shayana pratikshnam. By Guruvayurappan's Grace, I was able to perform shayana pratikshnam when I visited Guruvayur in mid-June. As soon as I started doing the shayana pratikshnam I developed thalakarakam and was not confident whether I would be able to go further, but with His blessings alone I got the strength and confidence to complete it. Guest guest
Dear Visveswaran, Good to hear that you could do Shayana-pradakshniam in Guruvayur. Thank you for the comments on Navaneetham, the credit goes to all members who contribute articles and poems on time. We look forward to see more participation from you and all others as well. Singing the Shlokams in the right manner is a great idea, however, something that need a lot of help from all of the knowledgeable members. If one member can sing one shloka and record it in computer format and send it to me, we can compile it and make it available on guruvayoor.com A great example is Ramayanam audio by Sukumar. If Sukumarji has time, let him be our lead and we can all volunteer to sing a record some slokams. Guest guest
Hari Om! Dear Sunil, I can try a few shlokams and send them as mp3. But it will take some time. First we should see if how many other volunteers are there as well. Then they need a reasonably good recording facility - nowadays with computers, we can do a good job. Regarding the 'right' way of chanting, it is subject to interpretation based on traditions and styles followed in different parts of India and even within Kerala. In my humble opinion, we should try to chant the shlokams to ensure clarity, bhakthy and consistency. Too much of music or raga alapana may not be appropriate. Have you looked at www.mathrubhumi.com lately? They have linked the Ramayanam audio this year also, within their 'Ramayana sandesam". Best regards, SukumarSunil Menon <menon_sunil wrote: Dear Visveswaran,Good to hear that you could do Shayana-pradakshniam in Guruvayur.
