Guest guest
Dear Devotees, One thing worth mention about Guruvayur is that Guruvayur temple shot into glory, fame and prominence with Bhattathiri's Narayaneeyam, and Bhattathiri lived from AD 1559-1632 as per the Guruvayur Devaswom website. This is sometime after that of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (AD 1486-1534). I have also tried enquiring about Mahaprabhu's possible visit to Guruvayur - but in vain. Here is an extract from the Devaswom website: ---->>>>>>>>>QUOTE KUDALLUR KUNJHIKKAVU NAMBOODIRI ( AD 1839-1903) Kunjhikkavu was known as Raman in his childhood. He learnt Puranas through his mother's daily parayana (recitation ) of Ezhuthachan's works and learnt Sanskrit on his own . He formerly began his puranavayana in his illam and slowly become famous as a philanthropist and mystic. He possibly followed the Chaithanya cult. Very often he forgot this real world, he looked at every women he met as a Gopi of Vrindavanam. He started circumambulating and prostrating before animals. He used to take whatever he wanted from Sreekovil. Kunjhikkavu was more famous for his puranavayana. The particular place in Guruvayur temple where he used to sit for puranavayana is still known as Kunjhikkavu's corner. <<<<<<<<<<<----UNQUOTE See the line " He possibly followed the Chaithanya cult. " - I tried contacting the Devaswom folks for more light on this - which could possibly enable us to trace the history to Mahaprabhu - but it fell on deaf ears. I even enquired with some devotees as to which portion is Kunjhikkavu's corner - and nobody seems to know. If anyone can shed more light on this, I would be very much grateful. -sriram ==================================================== --- krishnadasa77 <krishnadasa77 wrote: > Dear Sanju, > > It's nice that you are asking question about Shree > Krishna Chaitanya > Mahaprabhu.
