Guest guest
" Oom Eka danthaya VidMahE Vakrathundata DhiMaHE Thano danthi Prachothayat " Hi, "Namasthe to ALL" Actually I have a doubt. I have seen that Brahmins arevegetarians. Is it compulsory for a brahmin to be strictly vegetarian? Any book says to be so? The reason for this doubt is that in great "MAHABHARATHA"i have read that during the great "yagas" by kings, allthe brahmins are invited and served food (collected byhunting including pork,deer...). I have also read the story of the great sage "Agasthya".Once his wife "LOpamudra" asked him to grab wealth for her.He at once set for that.First he went to kings andthey were unable to help him.At last he went to a cruel but wealthy demon named "Illuala" who had a brother named "Vaathapi".Killing brahmins by tricks were theirhobby. When Agasthya reached his palace he warmly welcomed him.As per the plan his brother turned to a goat and served himself as a dish to "Agastya"(he had magical powers). But he was trapped inside Agasthya's stomach and burned to death by the great sage's gastric juices.Other wise he would have come out piercing Agasthya's stomach when hearing a call from his brother. The above are the reasons for my doubt. I will be thankful if anyone resolves it. Thanks Regards,Sreejith. Forgot the famous last words? Access your message archive online. Guest guest
Sreejit, read what Gandhiji had to say about eating meat. " I do not regard flesh-food as necessary for us at any stage and under any climate in which it is possible for human beings ordinarily to live. I hold flesh-food to be unsuited to our species. We err in copying the lower animal world - if we are superior to it. " Mahatma Gandhi, His Mission and Message ------ When God created humans and animal species, he also mandated the diet most suitable for each species and equipped them with the approriate tools. In case of carnivorous animals, tools such as sharp and strong teeth, claws etc. which the non-carnivorous species such as human beings do not possess. Jai shree Krishna !
