Guest guest
HARI AUM It is good to be proactive, reactive and more importantly active. To be EFFECTIVE in all these the CONTENT has to reach the DECISION MAKERS namely the Board/Administrators of Guruvayur Devaswom. Is there someway we can do it?? An easy way is to forward by such suggestions then and there to the email id of GD or collect these in a folder and send it once a week/month. Whether people agree with the findings or not is adifferent thing. I had been to Guruvayoor recently and stayed therefor a week attending a Sapthaham by Krishnapremi. I had also madecertain comments about the discussions and controversial matters comingto the level of personal admonitions, etc., which were appreciated bysome of our group. My personal findings are 1. The security in the temple while entering the gate has been steppedup. But I feel it should be further increased, in the light ofpresent day happenings in places of worship, especially those of thehindus. In fact, security all over the township of Guruvayoor has tobe stepped up, which is a function of the Devaswom Board and thePolice. The security at private discourses like Rugmini KalyanaMandapam, the Brahmana samooham, etc.should be stepped up. As regardspeople of other religions being admitted into the temple, it againcalls for security risks, rather than Acharas and traditional beliefs. 2. Personal dress---a subject of great controveries---the fact remainsthat scientific findings have proved that men receive positive energyof the divinity, in other words, the deiva-chaithanyam through theupper part of their bodies, and hence men, if they are really seriousabout the divine grace, should leave their chests uncovered. It isalso known that ladies receive the same divine positive energy throughthe ornaments they wear, might be made of gold, theirmangalya-soothrams or even fashion jewellery. 3. There is unending discussion about churidars. I am of the opinionthat ladies should wear only sarees, that too, made of cotton, as it isless susceptible to catch fire in case of an emergency. Compare alady wearing a nylon churidar and another wearing a cotton saree. Incase there is a fire accident, the lady with nylon churidar will bebeyond redemption and cannot be saved, whereas the lady with a cottonsaree stands some chance of saving herself from burns. 4. Nirmalya darsanam. People get up as early as 2 A.M. andstand at the gates to open and have a glimpse of the Lord with theprevious night's decorations. But by the time the gate is opened andpeople reach the inner sanctum sanctoram, to their utter dismay, theyfind that the nirmalyam is already removed. I pray that thenirmalyam must kept in tact at least for 15 minutes so that devoteeswill not be disappointed. 5. Further, when the gate is opened, there is such a rush to have thenirmalya darsanam that there could be a stampede and some devoteescould get injured. Such stampedes have happened in many other temples. 6. Getting the neivedyam-- People, especially those who come fromoutstations, have to undergo the strain and spend much time in bookingfor the neivedyams and in collecting them later. If the authoritiesthink, they can reduce the time element by organising counters alongthe queue itself, so that devotees can buy them on the way to thetemple itself. These are some of my main observations, which I thought, I should bringto the notice of the group. Regards K.V. Gopalakrishnan Get the freedom to save as many mails as you wish.
