HARI AUM

All religions always tried to grow and contain other

faiths. In Kerala the Christians are also known as

'ancghham vedakkar' ( people reading the fifth veda).

It is said that Christ just missed being anointed as

the 11th incarnation of Vishnu and the Christanity

coming in as a sub-sect of Hinduism. The powerful

Jainism, Budhism, and all those 'isms' cropped up in

time were all engulfed within the broad Hindu mind

making them all feel that they are Hindus and follow a

particular master.

Probabaly that may be the secret of this 'sanatana

dharma'-eternal, ever changing and ever evolving.

Regards

Balagopal

Dear Balagopal,1.)Meaning of the word prajApati from Monier-Williams Dictionary: " lord of creatures , creator RV. & c. & c. (N. of a supreme god above or among the Vedic deities [RV. (only x , 21 , 10) AV. VS. Br.] but in later times also applied to Vishn2u , S3iva , Time personified , the sun , fire , & c. , and to various progenitors , esp. to the 10 lords of created beings first created by Brahma1 , viz. Mari1ci , Atri , An3giras , Pulastya , Pulaka , Kratu , Vasisht2ha , Pracetas or Daksha , Bhr2igu , Na1rada [Mn.i , 34 "2.) The Mahabharata is generally regarded as the panchama veda (5th Veda) by our acharyas. therefore it would be grossly incorrect to term X-tians as anchaam vedakkaar.3.) I never heard of the Christians being spoken of as belonging to the fifth veda. which part of kerala is/was this usage prevalent?-sriram======balagopal ramakrishnan <rbalpal
