Guest guest
HARI AUM Yesterday there was a very informative talk detailing the intricacies involved in Pancha Vadyam – how the devotees listening to it (listening to it with devotion) are slowly, step by step, brought in tune with the Rhythm of Nature! This programme was under "Paitrikam" in DD-4 Thursday evening. It was very good in many ways by a very learned Devotee. However, then in the background, as usual, a row of caparisoned elephants were shown. Though Pancha Vadyam is a very rich traditional item that we humans do enjoy it is a real torture for these poor ("Panch Papavangal" – as described by that learned speaker) creatures who by nature like quiet environments. We don't need the company of any animals to enjoy a Bhajan or a Music Concert. Then, can we not enjoy the Pancha Vadyam too with out these creatures? Can we not avoid these "cruelties to animals" from our traditions? A very humble request to ponder on with no offence to any one pl. NB Nair.
