Guest guest
Dear All, This is a conversation made up from an idea I read in the naama maahatmyam. Regards and prayers Savitri Disciple: Respected teacher, I am in the middle of so many problems. What should I do? I am really pressed for time too. ( He was coughing off and on) Teacher: Please do chanting of the name of your Ishta devatha. In Kaliyugam, naama sankeerthanam is very powerful. You do not have to worry about rituals and time of chanting. You can chant naamam all the time. Disciple: Teacher, I do not have time. I have so many worldly duties and I have so much to accomplish in my life. So when I finish all those, I will start spending time for chanting. My mind is now full of other thoughts and worries. Teacher: OK, you have a really bad cough. I am sorry. Disciple: I am taking medicine for the last one week. Teacher: Oh, I thought you would take medicine after you get well. How can you take medicine when you are sick? You have to wait till you get well to take the medicine. Disciple was perplexed. Teacher: Do you know swimming? Disciple: Yes, I know very well. Teacher: Did you start going to the swimming pool after you learnt swimming? Disciple: No, how can you learn swimming with out practicing for a while? Actually I took a long time because I could not go to the pool everyday. Teacher, Oh, I thought you can learn swimming with out getting into the water. Disciple: Are you making fun of me? Teacher: No, Just now you said that you would start prayers after you finish all your duties and after all your worries subside. My dear disciple, your attitude is just like going to the swimming pool after learning swimming and taking the medicines after you get well. You may get drowned before you learn swimming and if you are that adamant, you may get sick and die before you get a chance to take the bitter medicine. NOW is the time to start prayers. Teacher got up and disappeared into his prayer room.
