This is to seek help from those of our learned members about some reference

to an experiment described some where in an ancient Hindu Scripture.

There was an interesting news item in yesterdays Times of India, New Delhi edition, as

shown below:

In my School days, I had heard a very learned High School Head Master, who

was also a Sanskrit Scholar speaking on Hindu mythology. He talked about some Guru

(I do not remember his name pl) telling his disciple to stop and not to proceed

any further in his research, or else there is a definite possibility that he

may bring an end to this world. A couple of years after my joining BARC

(Then AEET – Atomic Energy Establishment Trombay) and learning more on Nuclr

bombs, I made a personal visit to that scholar to know more on that

topic. But by that time he was very old and could not remember exactly in

what mythological text it was mentioned. But he could recite some slokas

which described chain reaction or something similar to it. I had a vague memory that one of the

characters - the Guru or the disciple was one KANADAN (not of FINNISH origin

pl).

Any idea?
