Guest guest
Hello Arunji/Girijaji, I think the second word on the first line is "KOOJAYAN" instead of KOOYAJAN. Otherwise everything in order. Guest guest
om namo narayanaya Dear bhaktas I have also been following the serial "Sri Krishna Leela" on asianet. A few weeks ago, the character who plays Kuroor amma recites a mantra thus: Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya Namah Danvantaraye Amrutha Kalasa Hastaaya Sarva maya vinashaya trylokya nathaya namah Om Maha vishnave Namah This seems distinctly different compared to what most of us know. First, the breakage of the mantra into 3 parts! Or is this the correct version??? Second, she says "vinashaya". Is this correct? Or, is "vinashanaya" correct? Can the knowledgeable in this forum throw more light? RK Rangan
Guest guest
I think that the correct version should be sarvaaamayavinaaSine or vinaaSakaaya Dr. Saroja Ramanujam, M.A., Ph.D, Siromani in sanskrit. www.freewebs.com/asrama3 You rock. Guest guest
Dear all, Radhe Krishna! The correct version is " KomaLam Koojayan Venum ShyamaLo ayam Kumarakah Veda-vedyah param Brahma bhasatham puratho mama " meaning Ayam Kumarakah=This young boy (who is) koojayan =sounding, playing, venum=the flute, komalam=beautifully, melodiously, (and who is) param Brahma = the Supreme Brahman, (the Supreme Lord who is Nishkala-brahman), and Veda-vedyah=known to the world only through the Vedas, bhasatham=Let Him shine, mama-(in) my purathah =in front of me. May this Lord Krishna, in the form of the delusive young boy who is the Nishkala-brahman (really speaking, who is the Supreme being without form, but who has taken the form of Lord Guruvayoorappan), and who is known only through the Vedas, (always) shine in front of me. The Supreme Brahman, the God of the Hindus, has, really speaking, no form. That is Nish-kala Brahman. But He descends on earth taking a form with a kala or a fraction of His power, only in the Amsa-avatharas like Rama, Parasurama, Nara-narayana, Varaha, Nrusimha, etc., when occasion arises, to destroy the evil and protect the virtuous. Bur Krishna-avathara is not a fractional or Amsa-avathara. It is Poorna-avathara, in which the Supreme Nishkala-brahman has descended on earth with full powers--- POORNA-PUNYA-AVATHARAM. As it is a Poorna-avatharam with full powers of the Supreme Lord, there is no reason to call it an Amsa-avathara or what is kalled " Sa-kala-brahman " . This is what Bhattatiri also says in Narayaneeyam dasakam 1, sloka 4-6. (See Commentary of the dasakam in the web-site www.narayaneeyam.com which gives more details of the hypothesis.) The sole authority for the presence of the Lord without a form, (Nishkala-brahman) is the Vedas, and nowhere else. That is why He is referred to as " Veda-vedyah = known only through the Vedas.)
