Dear All,

Today l was listening to Shri Sundar Kumar's Ramayanam discourse and

in one context he was saying this: " Ravana's greatness is well known,

but it was not accompanied by goodness. " . This made me think and I

wanted to know more about it. It was very interesting to know the

difference in meaning between these words.

Ravana did not know that GREATNESS lies not in being strong, but in

the right use of strength.

According to Chinmayanadan Swamiji and others,

GREATNESS is to have faith in himself, in one's own physical and

mental capabilities.

GOODNESS is faith only in God and in Truth .

GREATNESS is a universally acknowledged fact.

GOODNESS is universally loved reality.

GREATNESS we observe in our outer life.

GOODNESS we observe in our inner life.

GREATNESS astonishes us.

GOODNESS illumines us, liberates us from bondage.

GREATNESS dwells in our desire world.

GOODNESS dwells in our desireless, spiritual world.

GREATNESS compares and competes with the world around to remain great.

GOODNESS does not compare or compete with the world around. Comparison

is only with oneself for the sake of constant and continuous progress

of oneself.

With our human eyes, we observe GREATNESS around us, all over the world.

With our inner eyes or divine heart, we feel GOODNESS within us and

within others.

Ultimately GOODNESS makes you see the GOOD and GOD in others and makes

you GREAT.

They are only truly GREAT who are truly GOOD.

Regards and prayers

Savitri
