Guest guest
HARI AUM How about a 'NAVANEETHAM' issue exclusively on the different special offerings in Temples of Kerala. Summer vacations have begun and the info might be useful while travelling in Kerala. It can be a collector's copy for future use too!! A few examples are like: 1. For eating/ food problems- Offerings at 'ANNAPOORNESWARI' temple at Cherukunnu- Kannur, 2. For marriage- a 3 step offering at Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathy/Bhadrakali temple on the way to Malappuram from Perinthalmanna. Mangalya pooja First year: Rs 220 Second year: Rs 400 Third year: Rs 720 It is believed that pooja is to be done for all the three years, even if the marriage takes place in the first or second year. 3. for success in events (exam etc)- Coconut and Appam for Thevarathil Ganapathy in Tali temple-Kozhikode. 4. Krishnattam at Guruvayur- Rs1500/- Each days performance believably yields a particular benefit to those making the offering. Avathara is offered for the birth of a child. Kaliyamardana to offset the effect of poison . Rasakreeda for the well being of unmarried girl and boy. Kamsavadha to eliminate enemies. Swayamvara to speed up matrimony. Banayudha -auspicious on birthdays to accomplish cherished wishes. Vividha vadham to eliminate poverty and increase yield from farms. Swargarohana for the peace of departed souls. Devotees can offer these episodes individually or in a series. Swargarohana must, however be followed by avatara on the following day, as the former by itself is considered inauspicious. Guest guest
Excellent idea Balagopalji. We can compile a list of offerings and rituals in various temples in Kerala, Tamilnadu and other states that has special meanings to our well being like the ones you mentioned. I invite all members to share their wisdom in this regard that we can compile and add to the next issue of Navaneetham as well as make a single document to be stored for future use in our group files. Guest guest
Dear Vinod,You said, "Can we also take part when the offering is being enacted at the feet of the lord."Please read about Krishnattam in Guruvayur Devaswom official website:http://www.guruvayurdevaswom.org/krishnanattam.shtmlAbout Special offerings:http://www.guruvayurdevaswom.org/soffer.shtmlKrishnattam is the dance drama based on the various leelas enacted by Bhagavan Sri Krishna, written & designed by King Manavedan for the pleasure of Sri Guruvayurappan. You can sponsor the same as an offering by making appropriate payment and deciding the date in consultation with the Temple officials - and then you can be there and watch the Krishnattam performance by the Guruvayur Krishnattam troupe inside the temple - in the Northern side of the chuttambalam. No prasadam is provided to the sponsor of Krishnattam - he can simply be there and relish the entire show with family & friends. That itself is considered a great blessing. All are welcome to Krishnattam performances as audience. In case I haven't understood you correctly so far, are you asking whether you can participate as a dancer in Krishnattam?????!! Krishnattam is enacted after the night sheeveli - after 10pm - and usually continues well past midnight. Please do write if you need any further clarification.-sriram======vinod tk <tk_vinod2004 wrote: Dear Balagopalji, I am relatively a new member.
