Kanchi Sankaracharya....Priyaval " Samoham Sarva Bhoodeshu, Na Me Dveshyosthi Na Priya:,Ye Bhajanthi Tu Mam Bhakthya, Mayi Te Teshu Chapyaham"To

cross this "Sansara Sagaram" and to avoid a re-birth into this

world, one has to take Sree Krishna's Charanamrutam. It is the means for

"Moksham"."Akalamrityuharanam,Sarvapapavinasanam,SreeKrishna Charanamrutham Pithwa Punarjanmam Na Labyathe".And

what about His Adharamrutham. His Adharamrutham is the "Bhagawath

Geetha",we can call it the "Geethamrutham".Will it prevent us from

dying ? No, but more than that, it will make us free from the fear of

Death. Actually, we all suffer from the fear of Death, because we lack

the knowledge of the Self, the knowledge that no one can avoid death

and become a "Mrityunjaya".That is why Krishna called us Agathasun, not

yet dead, but sure to follow the "Gathasun" one day.So why to fear

about the Death ? Lord Krishna says instead, we should try to know

about the SELF. In this connection He says......."Vedavinasinam Nityam Ya enam ajam avyayam,Katham sa purusha: Partha, Kam Ghatayathi Hanti Kam"-2/21 [

O Partha, the one who knows this (self) that is beyond death, free from

modifications, unborn, and undecaying; how and whom can such a person

kill or cause anyone to kill ?]Lord

Krishna says we are not the body which is made up of the "Panch

Bhoothas". Our bodies are only temporary abodes for "The Souls". This

body grows, becomes old and finally disintegrates into the earth as it

is made up of the five elements of this Nature. But the Soul or the

SELF is beyond death, It is indistructable, and it is changeless.

Unlike the body, it is Unborn, does not grow, and it is free from

modifications. This is the basic Aatma Tatwam one should know and the

ones who know this can not kill anyone or cause anyone to be

killed.Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that he should get up and fight the

war and should not think that he is killing any body. If he knew the

Atma Tatwam, he can not kill any one soul on earth.Lord Krishna

suggests that this body of ours is not at all eternal, which we can see.

Just in hours of the last breath,it starts decaying badly. But as long

as the Soul was there it was alive and kicking. But just at the end of

the last breath, the eyes are not seeing anymore, the ears are not

hearing, and the sense organs are not functioning any more.So the Atma

Chaitanyam which was living in this body was keeping all the organs in

tact. So the eternal thing in us is the Soul, which we call the SELF.

This self can not be killed by any one,not even by ourselves. It is

Avyayam according to Krishna, whereas the body undergoes modifications

from the birth upto the end of the life. The process of "Aging" is only

for this mortal body and not for the self.Doership is in the

intellect and not in the Self. The phenomena of birth and death and

other modifications happen in the body and not in the Self. Since

"ATMA" the Self is free from modifications, it cannot be the doer of

any actions because the doer undergoes modifications. So "ATMA" cannot

be the killer. Since the modifications of birth, death etc. are not in

the Self it cannot be killed or even hurt. The knower of "ATMA" is

"ATMA" himself and so such a one cannot himself kill anyone nor can he

become the cause of killing. So "ATMA" cannot be the source of fear or

sorrow. Knowing the Self that is the abode of fearlessness; one

becomes fearless, free from the fear of Death.Om shanti:,Om shanti:,Om shanti: Om.
