Dear Bhaktas,

OM NAMO NARAYANA.

We will be in Guruvayur on the 18th & 19th June 2008

with four adults and two children. I request the group

members to advise me on:-

1. TULABHARAM in Guruvayur Temple for my grand

daughter, one year old. How is the TULABHARAM

performed - with bananas? Any advance booking done and

what are the timings?

2.Any good 3 star hotel in Guruvayur! Or is it better

to stay in Trissur!.

Thanks, V.Ramabhadran, Chennai.

Dear Shri. Ramabhadran,

Thulabharam in Guruvayoor does not need any advance boooking. Thulabharam

counter is inside the temple complex at the north-east corner. You can use

anything of your choice like banana, sugar, rice etc. You will have to tell them

your choice at the counter.

As we do not promote any any commercial interests in this group, we won't be

able to give you a list of hotels, however, you can search online and find

contact numbers of good hotels like Krishna Inn, Temple owned Panchajanyam etc.

Please see the Guruvayoor visitors guide at www.guruvayoor.com for

more info on Guruvayoor visit.

Let us know if you have any more questions. Have a good trip and

please do pray for our group members when you are in Guruvayoor.

Hare KrishnaAs you enter into the temple, Tulabharam is being performed at the left hand side and to specify with what ? It is upto you. Most of the people pray that with so and so item, Tulabharam will be done. However if you have a vow then you need to definitely do with the same item and if you change, you cannot see that the weighing machine shows equality in weight on both the sides.

As regards to your stay, your have couple of good hotels in East Nada and you can look for accommodation there. Staying at Trichur means, you might need to travel very early in the morning to reach the temple as there will be huge queque to enter the temple.

May Lord Guruvayoorappan bless you all including your grandchild !RegardsJayasree MenonOn 01/05/2008, ram iyengar <veeaar39 wrote:

Dear Sri Ramabhadran

Tulabharam is an offering to Sri Krishna. You may be aware that it is

an offering or a vazhipadu.

Items such as bananas, jaggery, sugar, rice, oil, tulasi, jack

fruit, coconut fibre, yam (chena)...(the list goes on)...meaning that

it depends on what your prarthana or vow is. Each item, I believe has

certain significance.

As for the hotels, here is a list that I compiled for a friend

sometime ago. You may have to call and make an advance reservation.

Here are some good hotels:

Panchajanyam Guest House

Very close to the temple; Belongs to the Devaswom.

Maintenance is poor, but ok for a day or so.

You may visit the Devaswom's website for the telephone number.

If you want an advance reservation, you may have to send a MO in

advance, but usually they misplace it and create anxiety in us, when we

arrive there.

Please check and confirm with them.

Hotel Elite

(South Indian Thali is available here)

East Nada

Guruvayur

Ph: 0487 2556215/16/17/18

I usually stay here.

Sri Kripa

East Nada

Ph: 0487-2552415

No restaurant available.

Rooms start only from 1st floor. No lift.

Hotel Ayodhya

West Nada (Back side of temple)

You may need an auto to reach the temple.

No restaurant available. No lift.

0487-2556226, 2555693

Rugmini Regency

Slightly expensive, but excellent accomodation

Restaurant available.

East Nada

0487-2556387

Besides there are several

hotels in the vicinity of the temple. I would suggest advance booking.

I hope this helps.

May Sree Guruvayurappan

bless and protect
