Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya When I woke up this morning suddenly this one line came to my mind and I thought of sharing with our group members, specially when there is shortage for food all over the world. I am typing in ma-english so that all can read the same ari aaNenkilum, ari allenikkathu, Hari aaNennu nirNayam. ari....grain of rice (2nd) ari....enemy (sathru).. Hari... Bhagavan Hari. The full meaning... though it is rice, it is not an enemy but definitely it is Hari - the Bhagavan to me. During my childhood I was not allowed to spill a grain of rice while eating. I was told that the one going out of the plate has the energy or "life" to save my life. So I never spilled a grain of rice. I do not know who told this one...." if you eat one meal a day, you are a yogi, if you eat two meals a day you are a Bhogi, and if you eat 3 or more meals a day then you are Rogi". It is best to be a yogi, or better still, to be a bhogi but definitely not a Rogi. We at home eat only one meal made of rice during day and the night meal is light without rice. If all, not only in Keralam, but everywhere follow this, then the shortage of rice (or food grain), will not be felt as severe as that we are facing today. Guest guest
Dear Chandraji, Excellent thought indeed! Thanks for reviving my memory of the " Yogi/Bhogi/Rogi " saying. Ii also reminds of what Gandhiji aptly said, In this world " there is enough for the needy, but not enough for the greedy " . Let us try to be less greedy by eating less rice, using less petroleum and help our Mother Goddess - Earth - a little. A little can add up; Pala thulli peru vellam - Many small drops makes an ocean! Thank you for the good advice in this time of need. Guest guest
Dear Sir, It is a very good reminder for all of us to be careful and considerate to the less fortunate. Thanks for sharing your divine thought. My mother used to say : " there is no duhkham greater than daaridryam (poverty). There is nothing more unbearable than seeing children cry of hunger. " Only when the hunger need is met, we can think of anything else. I read somewhere that in Nigeria where there was severe famine, some charitable agencies were trying to hook up old computers in different parts of the village and the villagers came out and yelled at them and said: give food first and then hook up the computers because we do not have the energy to open our eyes and watch the TV shows. They were not against the agency's good will of distributing the computers, but their basic need was not met and they did not care about anything else. It filled my eyes with tears. Guest guest
Hari=Om. Krishna, Guruvayoorappa. One click of the mouse costs us nothing but that one click could feed a poor family FREE for a day. May be this is a coincidence but this morning I came cross two very interesting sites. I am sure most of our members are aware of it but still, try ; 1/ thehungersite.com 11/ freerice.com. A lot of donors are contributing free food for the needy based on requests made by a click of the mouse. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have gone hungry and believe me, I know what hunger means. Those who observe Ekadasy in the strict sense of it will have experienced it as well. I lived in the poor countries of Africa for years and starvation is nothing new to the people living in those parts. Visit the villages in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Mozambique, Tanzania . Niger and so on . The conditions are deplorable, no words can describe the sufferings and hardship.May God help them. Guest guest
What a fantastic message to those of us , of today's generation who indulge our selves, unmindful of the sinful amounts of food that we waste! What 'rogis' ,we have made of ourselves ,is evident from the flourishing medical profession! Thank you for this one. guruvayur , " Sunil Menon " <menon_sunil wrote: > > Dear Chandraji, > > Excellent thought indeed! > > Thanks for reviving my memory of the " Yogi/Bhogi/Rogi " saying. > > Ii also reminds of what Gandhiji aptly said, > > In this world " there is enough for the needy, but not enough for the > greedy " . > > Let us try to be less greedy by eating less rice, using less petroleum > and help our Mother Goddess - Earth - a little. > > A little can add up; Pala thulli peru vellam - Many small drops makes > an ocean! > > Thank you for the good advice in this time of need. > > Om Namo Narayanaya: > Sunil. > > > > > guruvayur , Chandra Menon > chandrasmenon2002@ wrote: > > > > Om Namo Narayanaya > > When I woke up this morning suddenly this one line came to my mind > and I thought of sharing with our group members, specially when there > is shortage for food all over the world. > > I am typing in ma-english so that all can read the same > > ari aaNenkilum, ari allenikkathu, Hari aaNennu nirNayam. > > ari....grain of rice (2nd) ari....enemy (sathru)..
