Dear All,

With pranamams to the late Mrudaanandaji!

Five Divine steps given in ancient scriptures to climb to the sanctum sanctorum of Divinity

1. Dedication: This is offering ourselves to God with all enthusiasm. Often, ego and all the negative emotions associated with ego hinder our spiritual advancement. It is said that praying to the great bhaktha Uddhavaji will help us to surrender ourselves.

" Sree Krishna paaduka yugma dhaarine! Mahithaatmane! Uddhavaaya namsthubhyam , bhakthim manasi vardhaya "

2.Devotion: The best word to use for devotion is the Sanskrit word Bhakthi. This word is derived from " bhaj " meaning to serve and the suffix " ktin " which expresses action. Bhakthi is to serve God with intense love. Love of God is love of all His creation because every single thing of His creation has His divine spark. Also devotion can be considered as an expression of gratitude for providing us with everything we need. Repeating the naamaas that Naarada muni continuously plays on his veena (he plays forwards and backwards), is recommended to purify ourselves:

Shiva Rama Govinda Narayana Mahadeva Krishna Hare

Hare Krishna Mahadeva Narayana Govinda Rama Shiva

3. Discipline: Discipline is important in achieving in any goal. It is all the more important in progressing spiritually. According to Hindu belief, our Lord is never a task master. That is why we never use the expression " fear of Lord " . We say " love of God " He never disciplines us. The discipline has to come from us. But, when we take one step towards Him in all earnestness, He takes ten steps towards us. Scriptures say that He is waiting for that one step from all of us and only way to acquire spiritual discipline is by sincerely praying to Him. Prayer for having more discipline:

Achyuthananda Govinda!

4.Discrimination: We humans are blessed with the power of discrimination. We have to use this capability in every aspect of our daily life. With sincere devotion, He helps us to accept the good and reject the undesirable and unrighteous. Prayer for the power of discrimination:

Sree Rama Krishna Madhusoodana Hae Murare!

Narayanachyutha Janardana Vasudeva!

5.Determination: Determination comes from with in us. In order to have that, we really need His blessings. Mrudaanandaji once said that determination comes by listening to the inner voice. He says that every time inner voice tells us to go forward with determination, but we have to listen carefully to that voice and go forward with out laziness. We should not let laziness to argue with inner voice and justify it's own decision to drop a project or action for convenience. Using the power of discrimination, determination has to win over the negative forces acting against it. In Mrudaanandaji's words: " You must hold fast to what you consider as good, what you regard as sacred and what you recognise as the truth. That is real penance and determination " .

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
