Guest guest
Dear All,Third Guru of Datthathreya is sky. We cannot divide the sky. We cannot tell where it starts and where it ends. It is filled in all the empty space available and it is not attached to anything. We can see so many objects starting from dust particles to Sun and Moon in the sky and it is not attached to any of these things. The clouds or rain or lightning do not affect the sky. So the sky taught Datthaathreya that atman inside everyone should be unaffected by the movements and emotions of the body, mind, and senses. Let us look at an example of the sky or empty space in a ghatam ( a vessel with a constricted neck made of mud). As long as the ghatam is there, a portion of the aakaasham is contained in the ghatam and when it breaks the aakaasham inside will join the space outside. Now, the aakasham in the ghatam does not exist separately. Thus the aakasham can be contained in something, but the moment the container is destroyed, it dissolves and becomes part of the outside sky. Likewise, our soul is trapped in our body for sometime. We should understand that soul or jeevatma is like the sky inside the ghatam and actually is a part of the Universal soul and is omnipresent like the sky. Sky is never touched or stained by anything. Inspite of our living in a world of relatives, friends, and acquaintances, none of the relations should affect our inner self. It should be like the sky refusing to get divided and stays non attached. So Datthathreya says: " From this I learned that a true sage should remain ever pure like the sky or space, untouched or unaffected by anything in the world around him. His inner being should be totally free from emotional reaction to things and events. This is the message I learned from my third Guru, Sky.
