Guest guest
namo narayana Respected devotees of Lord Sri Hari, Although we as devotees of Lord Sri Vishnu need to worship him evey day and think of Him at all times, there are certain special days every month which are very auspicous for Sri Vishnu aradhanam 1. Every Ekadasi- comes every 15 days-both Krishnapaksham (dark half of month) and Shulkapaksham (bright half of month). All devotees of Lord Sri Vishnu fast on every ekadasi from the previous day (dasami) sunset till sunrise on dwadasi. If one cannot fast then one can eat fruits, milk but one has to completely avoid all grains (rice, wheat and dals) and beans in all forms. It is very important to break the fast (paranai) at sunrise on dwadashi (Sri Ambarisha story)after worshipping Lord Sri Vishnu. 2. Dwadashi- usually the next day of ekadasi 3. Shravana Nakshatra- when the moon enters the Sravana nakshatra or Thiruvonam constellation (Sri Vishnu is the presiding diety of Sravana nakshatra) 4. Poornima-full moon days when Lord Sri LakshmiNarayana are to be worshipped with due honours 5. Amavasai- new moon day On all these days (daily too), the recitation/listening of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, Sri Govinda Nama Sankeerthanam, Bhagavatham and Naraayaneeyam study, Sri Narayana nama japam is highly recommended. Of all the ekadasi's Sri Vaikunta Ekadasi (dec/jan)is considered to be the most important when the Sri Paramapada vassal (northern gates of Sri Vaikuntham are opened allowing all the devotees to reach His abode after living their lives on this earth) The month of Karthik is also considered to be very holy for worshipping Lord Narayana by offering lamps. Besides other festive days, ocassions such as Lunar/Solar eclipses and adhika maasams (extra months) are highly favourable for worshipping Lord Sri Vishnu. namo narayana
